On Saturday, Ravens coach John Harbaugh suggested that the media engage in a “self-check” when reporting on training-camp fights. Not many “self-checks” occurred on the practice field Tuesday in California, when the Cowboys and Raiders launched into a full-blown brawl. The brawl, which resulted in a dogpile against the low-security fence separating the players from…http://youwillnotrackme2.net/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&blog=&post=2273808&subd=nbcprofootballtalk&ref=&feed=1

As long as I can remember at just about all levels of football there are fights that break out in training camp, even between teammates. What is this the wussification of America? This is football folks wake up!!! lol

he forgets everyone is more or less wearing armor. People tend to get a little more brash when they are protected by pads. Most of these brawls are nothing more than pushing and shoving matches with a few colorful metaphors thrown in.

Once again. A situation involving the Cowboys gets blown way out of proportion. This was nothing more than a bunch of pushing and shoving. The players involved were probably having more fun "fighting" than they were actually angry.
The only concerning part was the proximity of the fans to the field. And that could easily be fixed.

The problem was not the players fighting.

It was the issue with the fans being so close and one getting into it with a player. If one of the players were injured or one of the fans were injured during the melee it would have been a black eye for the NFL and the teams involved. Especially when the local paper already noted the possible trouble with the gangs in the area and the teams bringing in extra security.

I rarely, can't remember if I ever have, defend Florio...but I think he is looking at this from a lawyer type point of view and what it could have cost the team and the nfl.

Thankfully no injuries happened due to the fights so it will pass over rather quickly.

I love the fighting! In the regular camp (between wilcox n dez), n than at the raiders camp starting with Claiborne dumping their Wr. I love the intensity and fight i am seeing from the team and i feel like the team brawl against the raiders if anything got us closer as a team and I love it!

He needs to go check Ray Rice brawling with his girlfriend/wife and sit down somewhere and mind his own business. We'll see him on Saturday.

This is not new. As I recall, Michael Irvin once ripped off the helmet of an Oakland DB and punched him in the face back in the day. Raiders and Cowboys have been fighting in training camp for years.

I do agree thou, it could have been dangerous with fan involvement. This will only serve to intoduce taller fences and less fan access in training camp. Shame really.

The main issue seems to be with the fan involvement. If a fan provokes a player and the player retaliates severely injuring the fan or other fans a hefty lawsuit could be filed.
