With NFL players locked out of team facilities, they need to be able to work out somewhere. Their union-turned-trade-association has got them covered.

Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reports that the NFLPA* has struck a deal with Athletes’ Performance for individual and group workouts.

“[Players] want to be ready to go at a moment’s notice,” NFLPA* spokesman George Atallah said Thursday, per Marvez. “They’re preparing themselves and continuing to work out so if the [lockout] is lifted, guys can go back to work and will be in shape and you won’t see a decline in the players’ ability to perform at a very, very high level.

What's the NFLPA and how are they working out anything for the players?

It's currently a trade association like the American Medical Association or the US Chamber of Commerce. Decertification doesn't mean you cease to exist as an organization, just that you relinquish your ability to collectively bargain with your employer. They can work out whatever they want with third parties, since that has nothing to do with unionization.

First of all, they work out much differenly than any average person at Golds gym.

They also prepare specifically for this type of sport.

Thats why they can't just go to any well known commercial gym, nor just use the equipment they probably already have at home.

Preparing for this sport at this level is more intense than just lifting weights.

They need trainers and people to help train them that understand the riggers of the sport.

Training camps get missed and watch the injuries if the season starts without them.

I know everyone wants to be pro-owner because of publications being put out this week. But we are not capable of playing the game to their level, nor do we understand all of this to their level or the owners level.

They don't want to play for the money they're being offered they don't have to.

The owners don't want to only make what they are making while the players make what they do while playing. Than the owners don't have to.

The fans can suck this up or not.

But lets be unbiased because we only know 1 thing for certain.

These players have a rare athleticism and talent.

These guys are not getting along and they are starting to use the media.

So please, lets not be pawns.

So, at a continuous round of proposal and reproposal, the players ran out of opportunity for their version of what is good based upon someone else's standard of good living and fair. I guess they should go to their big brother and have him beat the guy up to learn what HE THINKS is involved, and then adjust your own appraisal of good and fair...huh. Boy, we're getting doooped allright. Not the players....OK.

When operating costs are affected by percentage that can be dedicated to maintenance as well as new facility/operating expenses...and the employee only wants a percentage of the whole income of his employer, above national levels for labor. Not even forgetting a special umbrella being extended for being in the sporting venue.

30% being spent for food would put a Restaurant out of business, with all the other costs of maintaining the business. Most other businesses are much lower and in the 20% neighborhoods.

Cowboys linebacker Bradie James not ready to give up on agreement



Cowboys linebacker Bradie James is disappointed the labor impasse has forced decertification, but he's not ready to give up on an agreement or the 2011 season.

"Everybody has been preparing for this for two years when the owners opted out of the CBA," James said. "It's now a reality. Last week I was very optimistic because they were talking. We still weren't able to get anything done. It's disappointing. But we still have time to get it done. Business hasn't worked out so far. But that doesn't mean it won't work out."

James said also said it's too early to talk about not having a season. Besides, he believes both sides will come to their senses at some point.

9/10 restaurants fail within their first 6 months.

The NFL is not a failing business and the players within it are the commodity that the consumer is paying for.

Even the merchandise, concessions, broadcasts on TV, the internet and radio, etc, etc are revenues generated off of that commodity.

The food and beverage served in a restaurant is the commodity being sold. The cost to have that food and beverage before it is served apportions for whatever percentage a restaurant negotiates when operating their business.

You can look at the players in both ways. The labor, like the cook and waitress in the restaurant. As well the commodity like the food and beverage. The players are both in this business.

Look, they make more money that 95% of the average north American and European. Those are the wealthiest continents in the world.

We know that.

But they are also in a category that is less than 1% of the population.

Lets not do this.

Everything I said in this post is fact and not opinion.

My suggestion is that we remain unbiased as fans when it comes to their fight.

Our fight is whether we want to give these 2 sides our time and money anymore.

That's our only leverage in this whole thing as nasty as it is.

I'm not saying boycott them. I don't have the time or passion to myself.

But if we're so sick of what the players and/ or owners are making in comparison to what we make, why keep feeding this league the way we are as fans?

I'm personally going to watch if/when the games are available and I'm also going to remain unbiased.

There's far more pressing issues globally than this labor negotiation.

Japan's leaking radiation everywhere and the UN just approved a no fly zone over Libya. Got Mrs. Clinton promising bombs are going to hit Libya possibly as early as a few hours from now.

I know we're in a football forum but real "you know" what is starting to hit the fan.

Since you're rightfully concerned about $ right now, watch your investments because the market is going to shake up.

Let's be unbiased as fans, we win more than we lose that way. Me and you are really on the same team.

We wanna watch some football and see a draft.

A real war is on the horizon and it's not the new CBA the NFL relies on to go forward.
