NORV A BEGGAR OR A CHOOSER?

New reports (apparently on ESPN.com but we can't find the link yet) indicate that 49ers offensive coordinator Norv Turner doesn't think that Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is ready to be an offensive coordinator, and that this concern apparently is the source of the delay in Turner becoming the next coach of the Cowboys.

Per the report, Turner prefers that offensive line coach Tony Sparano should be the offensive coordinator, and that Garrett should be reassigned.

Um, what the hell is Norv doing? He has been fired twice as a head coach, and at last check no one other than the Cowboys has interviewed him for an opening. He's not, simply put, in a position to dictate terms to anyone.

Moreover, a growing number of league insiders believe that Turner is only getting a serious sniff in Dallas because owner Jerry Jones wants a guy whom he can bully, so that Jones can act like the quasi-coach of the team. If this is true, then it's unlikely that Jones will give in to Turner's reported request.

Either way, something's gotta give here, and soon. The 49ers need to make plans for the 2007 season, and if Turner isn't going to be back as the offensive coordinator, then the Niners probably would like to know about it.

I call shenanigans. Can't find a link? Prolly cause the forum poster's source is the janitor. PFT is the sound of gas leaving the rectum.

Turner can be a chooser, if he likes being an OC in SF. It only makes sense to have Sporano remain our OC, with Jason under him. That's the smart play - from a football AND managerial standpoint.

Actually I don't know if it was ESPN or somewhere else but I did read what they were talking about. So it is not them making it up HOWEVER where they, and I, read it from could just be pure speculation.

Answer: beggar

Whether he likes or dislike the talent level of any coach is irrelevent. Jones is implementing the coaching staff that HE wants. If Jones offers him the job and he accepts it, he has no other choice, but to establish the best working relationship with each and every one of them.

Who are these inside league sources that PFT always refers to in its articles?

Yeah, because Jones hiring a weak-minded coach that he can push around would be a real stretch. Let's see, since Johnson left, I believe that describes three of the four coaches he's hired. Sure, big-time speculation.

Right, because Jones has been so successful implementing what HE wants. Meanwhile, vitually every other team in the NFL has something called a General Manager and a staff of football people who handle these decisions. But as long as it's what Jones wants, I'm sure it's the right thing to do. His track record has been so impressive over the last 12 years. I can understand why fans would except any dumb move he makes. Heck, he's earned that trust with over a decade of incompetence.

To answer that question:: Beggar

Look @ his past history @ head coaching regardless of where he was head coaching at, look at the history.

Yeah it's nice that he wants Rivera as a defensive cordinator and Dat Nguyen as a linebackers coach but getting rid of T.O. is a no-no.

I like Ron Rivera because he is multi-talented. He runs a 3-4, 4-3, and 46....

It was an ESPN story and they've since updated the article with the proper link.

Bob Dole doesn't think Norv Turner is ready to be a head coach.
