PFT on Pickens: A fresh start was best for everyone

I am glad Pickens is here. To me what Khan said is something a team starting a rebuild would say. Unloaded a premium asset for another pick they can either use or package in a trade up for a QB in the 2026 draft.

I read a nugget a couple of days ago that suggested they are trying to acquire as many draft picks ( comp or trade ) as possible over the next couple of years. It appears they are targeting the 2026 draft for the next franchise QB.

So it was mutual........this actually make more sense, considering he's in the final year of his deal and the Steelers don't have a QB.

There were also discussions with Pickens and the end result was a feeling that the move was the best thing for all involved.

“I wouldn’t use the word disappointment,” Khan said, via Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We had three years with George. We had some exciting times. It was just time. The fresh start for both sides was the right thing.”
