Adam Schefter was right, after all.

A league source tells us that the Oakland Raiders are firing coach Art Shell. Today.

They just cant stick with 1 guy and try to build any kind of consistency.

They need to sit down and think long and hard about a coach and stick with that guy for at least 4 years. AT LEAST.

Al Davis has lost his mind, Raider fans are some of the biggest idiots in the world and Al Davis puts them all to shame.

As long as Al Davis is still there the Raiders will be wildly inconsistent at best, and generally just bad. Al has become an anchor, and not in a good way.

The Mike Martz mention sounds just about right though......

Art is the new Billy Martin. 2 years from now Al Davis will hire him once more.

can't say how i know, but davis is gonna sell the team in the not-so-distant future

Al is the downfall of that team. No two ways about it.

And seriously why would anyone want to go there to be a HC, they would have to pull a miracle to make it work.

People can rip on Jerry, or Danny boy, or Bill Bid in zona, and some other owners.

But Really Al is the worst right now.

He is not afraid of spending money...but really he can not expect to keep going the way things have been going. They have some of the craziest drafts, they have no order in the locker room, he will not give up real control to any coach and not to be mean or make fun of him but his age and health probably has a great deal to do with some decisions.

He just needs to hand the reigns over.

Actually I don't even think he is an official owner, I think he is more of a CEO. so maybe someone needs to stage a takeover lol.

I can believe that. I don;t know what he's got, but Al appears to be in very poor health, although he sounded pretty good at the HOF awards this summer...

Al doesn't like spending money on coaches. Shanahan and Gruden both had financial struggles with Al.

Art Shell basically took the job as a favor. No surprise that he didn't last long. Really had no chance of winning with the guys on that offense. Of course he made it worse by highering an old offensive coordinator. Just kidding, his age didn't matter, but the fact that he was out of football for a long time does matter. You can't keep up with the changes in the NFL if you are running a bed and breakfast.
