Schefter reports that the Raiders would even be willing to trade cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who's widely regarded as the best player on their roster. Ummm...no. Now I don't say that cause I think Newman is as good or better. i don't. Though I'm a big fan of Newman.

But you want to give up a pretty darn good player, and 2 picks, for a guy who you might, quite possibly, only get for 2 years?

That would be one of the dumbest trades of all time. You'd have to trade Newman and his huge contract. Then you're going to have to find a way to sign Austin and Aso to huge deals in the same year.

Cause in case anyone didn't bother to read the fine print there on the franchise situation with Aso it would be IMPOSSIBLE to franchise him next offseason in order to keep him.

Why? Cause the Raiders are stupid and allowed a clause to be put into the deal where if Aso is franchised after the contract runs out then he gets not top 5 corner money for the tag but top 5 QB money for the tag.

So, no, I'm not interested in potentially renting a player for two years and giving up Newman and 2 picks in order to do so.
