I'd give him a high guarantee, (relatively) low salary deal for a few seasons since I don't believe he'll decline for at least another 3 seasons. Something like 4 years, 18.5M with potential for +5m in incentives, 13M guaranteed (10M at birth, 3M if on roster at beginning of third season). He's not an exceptional player, but he'd definitely be a tremendous improvement over what we have. Doubt we can get him though.

That is because we were scrambling after investing 10+ million in Spencer, hoping Jay Ratliff would be a starter after not playing for 8 months (and being injured before that), and hoping DeMarcus Ware would get better with age. They could have invested that 10 million in Michael Bennett and still signed a couple of guys better than Nick Hayden.

Maybe I'm being irrational, but I don't want a Bennett in a Cowboys uniform and I don't think a Bennett wants to be in a Cowboys uniform likewise.
At least the Bennett's and I are (maybe) of like mind...

Fine, but we way overpaid for Spencer, even if we disregard the injury.

Oh- I totally agree.
I'm not condoning what they did with the tag last year or resigning him for the future, to be sure.
