None of this matters to me, other than I hate to see Schefter leave NFL Network.

But as far as who goes/stays at ESPN, who runs what lineups on what shows, etc.... doesn't matter.

There was a time when ESPN focused on reporting stories and not creating or fluffing stories that I would wake up early Sundays and absorb all the pregame and post game shows.

Now, I rarely even turn the television on until right before kick off.

Me too, I don't turn on the game til about 5 minutes b4 kickoff or if I have the TV on I'm normally finishing up playing chess or Pinochle or even chatting with you guys....

Millen Will Be Double-Dipping For ESPN

Posted by Mike Florio on April 19, 2009, 9:56 p.m.

We suggested last night that Matt Millen possibly would be augmenting his new role on ESPN’s Monday Night Football presentation with analysis on ESPN/ABC’s college football coverage.

According to Michael Hiestand of USA Today, Millen indeed will be supplementing his NFL work with coverage of college football games.

A formal announcement from ESPN is expected this week.

Maybe he’ll do his new job so well that a university president eventually will offer Millen a gig as Athletics Director.

All in all, it’s a gutsy move for ESPN. NBC took plenty of heat for giving Millen a cameo during the 2008 postseason. It’s unknown whether NBC offered Millen a full-time job for 2009.

ESPN Says Len’s Not Leaving, Clayton’s Not Being Undermined

Posted by Mike Florio on April 19, 2009, 9:49 p.m.

In response to Saturday’s report from ******** that Len Pasquarelli will be leaving ESPN and our own suggestion that John Clayton will be undermined by the addition of Adam Schefter, we’re told that neither man’s job will be changing in 2009.

According to ESPN spokesman Bill Hofheimer, Len will continue with ESPN.com in a role similar to his work in 2008, which primarily consisted of podcasts with Jeremy Green.

That said, one source with knowledge of the internal dynamics has suggested that Len might eventually decide to exit ESPN on his own, given the extent of the content available at ESPN.com. But the source emphasized that ESPN will not be eliminating Pasquarelli.

As to Clayton, Hofheimer says that his role and responsibilities will be consistent with his role and responsibilities in past years. But Hofheimer still has not confirmed the news that Schefter will be joining ESPN.

For Pasquarelli, health issues have kept him from returning to a full workload. Here’s hoping that he eventually can get back to his past efforts. ESPN’s simply coverage hasn’t been the same without his work ethic and his insight.

Someone check to see if the temperature in hell has dropped.

Millen and Shefter are both great additions - should be replacements - to ESPN.

And some of you guys are right, Millen should be in the booth. Tirico and Millen could be a great tandem with no color flavor.

I gotta agree with this. He was good enough on TV that he landed a GM gig.

Exactly! I'm just hoping that he has a sense of humor about his time with the Lions because it was a total joke and people WILL point that out. :lmao2:

Doesn't make a difference, BSP...err, I mean ESPN will make sure that he eventually becomes lousy by trying to get him to pump up the big name players, use lame catchphrases, and being more about delivery than actual substance. And don't forget, he'll become a fanboy of certain players and certain teams, show a complete bias against other players and teams, and be unprofessional.

It's the ESPN way.

I laugh when I hear about how good Jaws is. Yes, Jaws *used* to be great, now he's a caricature of his former self. Cris Carter was *excellent* at Inside the NFL, then he comes over to ESPN and is talking about how Terrell Owens should be shot.

He's an outstanding reporter/writer.

And why are they squeezing john clayton? He is one of the few people who work there that have not been affected by their nonsense.

I think you just answered your own question.
