Report: Stephen Bowen reworks deal with Commanders

Defensive end Stephen Bowen’s future with the Commanders has been clouded by his salary, cap charge and recovery from microfracture, but word out of Washington is that he’s made a move to make the first two things a bit easier to deal with.
John Keim of ESPN.com reports that Bowen has renegotiated his deal with the team. Bowen was set to make $4.4 million in 2014 with a cap charge of $7 million, but no new details of his contract have been announced.
Given Bowen’s health and his place on the depth chart behind Jason Hatcher and Jarvis Jenkins, it would stand to reason that Bowen took a straight pay cut in order to enhance his chances of sticking on the 53-man roster rather than a restructuring that pushes the cap charge further into the future...
