ROSENHAUS SAYS “SEVERAL TEAMS” ARE INTERESTED IN OWENS
Posted by Mike Florio on March 6, 2009, 8:28 a.m.
As the list of teams that have said publicly or off-the-record that they aren’t interested in receiver Terrell Owens grows, his agent claims that “several teams” would like to acquire the player’s services.
“These are several teams that are interested in signing Terrell,” Drew Rosenhaus told us Friday morning. “I have been in negotiations with these teams. I will not identify these teams at this time.”
So how quickly will this process unfold?
“Terrell and I expect to have a deal in place by the end of next week if not sooner,” Rosenhaus said.
A total of sixteen teams (and counting) appear on our Anti-T.O. List, reflecting the teams that publicly or privately have said that they won’t be pursuing the free agent.
In our view, possible destinations include the Broncos, the Raiders, and maybe even the Colts.
But we’ve got a feeling that, if Owens lands anywhere, it could be with a team that no one expected to be in the running.
And we also don’t rule out the possibility that the team that ultimately gets him will be a team that initially said “no thanks,” since such an approach might be the best way to soften his salary expectations.
