Saints begin player-organized workouts today

For a brief time last week, it appeared that the lockout would be off and coaches would run minicamps this week. Instead, the lockout is back on, and players are working out without their coaches.

For the New Orleans Saints, group workouts have been organized by quarterback Drew Brees, who’s also one of the most active players in the ongoing labor fight with the owners. Saints offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb told the New Orleans Times Picayune that getting together in the spring is necessary, even if the players are locked out.

:pc: Let's get this straight now, the washington Commanders have already had an organized workout, and a few other teams. Now, the Saints are having their workout. Let's see now, our leader is going to get the cowboys players organized, but they are having trouble finding a suitable place. And what else was that? :pc:

Oh yeah, Romo played golf tournaments last month 2 or 3, now he is getting ready to play in another golf tournament this month, the 9th. So, I guess he is too busy to organize the DALLAS COWBOYS organized player workout. And what was that Jason Witten said when Jason Witten had his kids camp. I was a little rusty!

Oh, I get it now, go have fun Romo playing golf, there will be time for Dallas Cowboys football later, golf comes first. Let all the other NFL teams Leaders get their teams ready for organized workouts as a whole team, not individual groups. Its always better to go out and have fun. Forget what Jason Garrett told you Romo, that you all have to get together and work out together as a group, like the Commanders did during strike out and won both superbowls during that strike out.

Golf is more fun than Dallas Cowboys football. Never mind that Drew Brees the leader in players suit against the NFL who has been busy with charity events, even alittle of golf i believe, but now has his team getting ready for players organized workouts as a whole team that the LEADER of the team should do. Oh, ok, I got it now, fun is better than football. Don't worry like we heard last year, there is plenty of time for football, go out and have fun. :starspin

Sick of it all. As much as I would smile to see the NFLPA union, or any union, crushed I just want some football. Besides, I can always revel in the general decline of unions since the 50's any old day.

This golf ^#!$#@ is starting to get on my nerves. Romo, you've never won anything. Please focus on football until you have. Please! Horrible season last year, everyone needs to focus on work outs right now....and Romo wants to play in golf tournaments. I let is slide in the past but this is the one summer where he should skip it.

Me too... but not how you'd think.

Are the alpha players the best ones to coach the team? I thought the truism was minor leaguers or their equivalent made the best coaches. Would they, the players, be better off hiring some high school or college coaches to run the practices?

Garbage thread.

Romo going into Valley Ranch; Tony Coach Jason Garrett wants to see you.

Romo: Hi Coach, did you see my qualify for that U S Open.

Jason Garrett: Yeah I saw you Romo  What's up with you not organizing and finding a place for whole team to practice. Didnt I tell you you all need to work together as a team like Commanders did that won 2 superbowls during strike years?

Romo: Aw Coach, there is plenty of time, dont worry.

Garrett, this isnt good ole wade's everything is ok, we can turn it on like a switch any time. (Some fan i know said we could, hmmm who was that). We work, and your suppose to be the leader and lead the players.

Romo: Aw coach i was good though at u s open

Garrett: your suppose to be running this team if drew brees can find timeto organize his team, you needto get your little golfing rear end and play dallas cowboys football not golf.

So then Brees is not as much of a leader as the Skins leaders since the Commanders held their before NO? I expect Dallas to do the same but because the Cowboys are not on your time frame does not mean Jack.

I wasn't joking.

Do you know when our team had it's first workout last year? No you do not.

Do you know when they began Mini Camps? No you do not.

Let me give you a hint as to those 2 things, they've never happened before the Draft in the 52 year History of the team. I hope that sinks in but I have my doubts it will.

Hey, if these reports of other teams lifting weights together give you a tent so be it. But I am so tired of your smug commentary about Tony Romo that I completely tune you out when you talk about him. You profess to love the guy. I'll never believe you. Yes, I've seen your closet door poster. Whoop-dee-freaking-doo.

..........totally disagree Hos. I LOVE the Cowboys and have since they won the Super Bowl in 77/78 against Denver. I was in 2nd grade and was ENAMORED with Tony Dorsett, Staubach, Randy White, etc....and I really respect your opinions on most things having to do with this team. But Joe is right. IF Romo was serious about winning and being a champion he wouldn't be dicking around with Golf. He'd be doing what Brees is doing and organizing his teammates to work out. Completely fair criticism...and YES you can still love the team and the QB. Time to grow up Tony and do what your are being PAID to do.

Who cares what the Deadskins and Taints are doing....I get it Drew Brees must be better than Romo right? Come on guys get real Romo will get serious when the time comes. The man is a gamer, and we all know he wants to win.

Some people have a heroic fantasy about football and the players.

I dont even know what the deal is with the Cowboys working out together. Last I heard they have something planned, is that right? Well it doesnt matter anyway. As long as they stay in shape all summer they only need a few weeks to get timing down. This stuff is just PR.

Nice find .......

It will be ignored with his next stupid nonsensical argument on why Tony loves golf more than football.

I'm sure it will. These people are a joke to think Romo is the only player in the NFL who does other things during the off season. They all do some may not get press for it but everyone of these players have a life outside of football. Hell he is not out getting busted, raping women or shooting at people or getting shot now days that is a good thing. :lmao2:

The Cowboys have workouts planned. ORGANIZED and LED by Tony Romo.

It has been reported on ad nauseum. One only needs to pay attention.
