SAINTS LOADING THE CANNON FOR RUN AT DORSEY

Posted by Mike Florio on April 25, 2008, 8:17 a.m.

How interested are the New Orleans Saints in landing defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey? They’re reportedly including in the trade package starting left tackle Jamaal Brown.

According to Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com, the Saints are shopping Brown, a Pro Bowler in 2006.

Presumably, the Saints have offered Brown and the No. 10 overall pick to the Rams, for the No. 2 selection. If so, how do the Rams not take it? Brown is under contract through 2011, at a base salary of only $752,500 this year.

At No. 10, the Rams could then target someone like Florida defensive end Derrick Harvey. It would allow the Rams to address significant needs on each side of the line, and ensure them at least one proven player as a result of the transaction.

Thats a trade that I think would work out very well for both teams. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see it happen.

Why in God's name would they give up a great, young left tackle and a first round pick to move up 8 spots?

Sorry, no player in this draft is that valuable

Show me where I sign ! Brown is awesome , young , and could be your starting LT for the next 8 years . D. Harvey or S. Ellis could still be on the board for the Rams at 10 .

and this my friends is why the Saints are the Aints........I bet Drew Brees isn't liking this trade discussion one bit.....Brown is protecting his backside and doing it very well.

The Saints should just keep Brown and draft a CB or DL at 10.

I can understand the reason why for NO to make this move. They ranked 26th in overall defense last season, 30th in pass defense and 19th in sacks. Meantime they were ranked 4th in overall offense. Glenn Dorsey is a heck of a player and being a home town kid does not hurt. Only problem I see with this is Dorsey coming off an injury plagued season

When you've got Rob Pettiti on the depth chart, players like Brown are expendable.

The Rams should take that in a minute and then trade back up a few spots and get Sedrick Ellis

Ellis and Brown>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dorsey.

I believe this rumor as much as I believe that we're packaging MBIII and our first round picks for the Dolphin's number 1.

How'd that one work out?

In that case, St. Louis should reject the trade, because the Rams actually signed Pettiti last October. ;)

I read in more than one place that he really disappointed them last yr...cant remember where it was, also semed to recall hearing it during a couple of their games last yr...that he wasnt playing at the same level he did the yr before

still doubtful to me that they'd do this IMO...but I think it was either Mortensen or McShay today on ESPN that said they had heard they might throw Brown in to move up
