SAINTS TO PLAY CHARGERS IN LONDON

Posted by Mike Florio on January 26, 2008, 8:58 p.m.

When Drew Brees left the Chargers and signed with the Saints, he likely never dreamed that his opportunity to prove the folks in San Diego that they kept the wrong guy would occur on the other side of an ocean.

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the New Orleans Saints will “host” the San Diego Chargers on October 26 in London.

The game will be played at Wembley Stadium, the same venue where the Dolphins hosted the Giants in October 2007. There was some thought that the game wouldn’t be played at Wembley again, because the slick soccer pitch coupled with a cold rain made the thing a sloppy mess last time around.

This time, the league wanted to provide England with a potentially high-scoring game, and the Chargers and Saints have two of the league’s marquee offenses.

Who would want to watch this? The Saints? They blow. Why didn't they send Indy or Cleveland or New England or something along those lines.

The Saints? Oh boy.

Like JJ said, "its right for the league"...just not right for the Cowboys.

I enjoyed watching the game, I think that the hype was pretty lame for the game and the field conditions were horrible.

I heard that it wasnt going to be at Wimbley stadium this year but I guess it is. They have to do something abotu that soccer surface, or hopefully it dosnt rain. I like the matchup better than last years though.

It's not really fair to the teams that have to play a regular season game overseas. I'm just glad it's not the Cowboys, we got enough problems winning home games.

As a Cowboys fan who lives in the UK I have to say that most of the Fans in the UK are very happy that another game is coming over here.

Hopefully the weather will be kinder this year, and the playing field will stand up to the game much better. if it's confirmed that the game is going to be the Saints & Chargers, hopefully they can put on a better show that the Giants & Dolphins.

I would love to see the Cowboys come to the UK to play, but I guess that's just being selfish. Would save me an awful lot of money though.

I have been over twice to watch the Cowboys at Texas Stadium, including this seasons win over the Vikings. And we are hoping to come back over in a year or two to catch a game in the new stadium.

That sucks for the Chargers. At least the Giants and Dolphins are already on the east coast. That is one long trip from California to London. Not that New Orleans is all that much closer. Seems like they would be better off squaring off in Mexico than in London.

So that's it then, the winners of Super Bowl XLIII will be
either the San Diego Chargers or the New Orleans Saints.

Seriously though, travelling to the UK didn't appear to have a negative impact on the Giants Season.
