Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick is close enough to an agreement on the new contract he’s been seeking that he plans to show up to the team’s offseason workouts on Monday. Although Scandrick has been staying home from workouts because he wasn’t satisfied with his contract, Todd Archer of ESPN reports that Scandrick will be there…http://youwillnotrackme2.net/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&blog=&post=2329683&subd=nbcprofootballtalk&ref=&feed=1

Scandrick is one of best feel good stories on this team. The guy was ridiculed aswell as the team for the deal they gave him. Which avg'd 5 mil a yr. He's clearly outplayed that deal. Glad this team got this done quickly. Scandrick needs to be out there. One of the leaders on this team.

I don't like it, but if they give him some incentive laden bonuses, that is at least palatable.

Just what would this group become if Claiborne starts to being an influence in the secondary?

could be outstanding...if Mo plays up to college potential, Carr's salary is reduced and he stays, OScan is OScan, and of course we have that shiny new first rounder....throw in that they will have QB's having happy feet more often since they will be getting chased for a change, and the secondary has potential to actually be pretty good

Kind of gutsy of Scandrick after getting suspended last year.

They have done right by him, but if they want to give him even more, so be it.

He was under contract. No new deal needed.

You still don't get it. Carr is under contract. but i bet you still want him to take a pay cut. it works both ways. and this time it looks like Jerry and Stephen blinked, and it worked for the player.

You don't get it.

And yes, I want Carr to take a pay cut.

I'm a fan of the franchise. It's in the franchises best interest for Carr to take a pay cut. And to not give Scandrick a new contract.

The last time they did this was with Ratliff, which I thought was smart at the time. But it looks a lot worse now.

I don't see a problem with this. It send a good message for players who out perform their contracts. But they also need to do something with players who under perform.

"If you perform we take care of you. If you don't, you are outta here."

Useless argument. Based on 'best needs of the team' the top quarter of the roster needs a pay cut.

Good luck with that. Guaranteed unhappiness, no matter the circumstances.

So teams can't cut the player until their contract expires?:D

Has Carr given back any of the 33m he has been paid the last 3 years? He surely hasn't earned that amount.

People look at OScan's contract and forget the signing bonus that has already been paid. In fact it is hard to get a true gauge on what he has been paid because they have re-done it several times already to his benefit.

IMO, he is the only one on the defensive side of the ball that has an argument that his pay isn't commensurate with his play. Yeah, I know, "He signed the dotted line, bro!" bit, but he really came on strong late in 2013 and all of 2014 when our DBs looked like "D-Bs". If teams can ask for players to take pay cuts because they are not living up to their end, then I see no reason why a player, who is performing leaps and bounds above their peers/pay grade, can't ask for a little more.

I hear you, I was just pointing out that it works both ways, etc.

Will be interesting to see if we paid Scandrick more money or just guaranteed a larger percentage of what he has left.
