Yeah, Fisher isn't any good either, but he's dead on here. I have "league sources" that claim Florio is a joke. Sadly some ESPN reporters quote Florio, further continuing the rapid decline of the station in Bristol.

Seriously, how can you have a "source" on the decline of the Cowboys in 2 years? At best, it's just somebody with an opinion. A source is somebody that provides you with information that's supposed to be fact.

Fisher's one of those guys you have to say, "Please don't be on my side." Even when he's right, he's an idiot. He should go on "Dancing With the Stars" with Skip Bayless.

I'll take the word on Fisher from you local guys, if he's an ***, he's an ***.

However, this is a quality article.
And not just because it's saying what I want to hear. And not just because its taking shots at that POS, PFT. Because its not just bashing PFT.

It's taking a shot at a very weak theme/premise. This theme is consistently propagated by both Cowboy haters and those simply trying to play devils advocate.

That theme being that the Cowboys aren't a SB contender. Its insane. It goes against all logic and is best left to desperate opposing fans and not media participants claiming credibility and objectivity.

Mike Fisher, lol.

He's a blowhard who was working for The Ranch Report.
To be honest, I like PFT a whole lot better than I like The Ranch Report.

I like PFT. I never understood why so many people love to hate PFT... it is a rumor site that also posts news stories about the NFL. In fact, the section where he blogs is called the "Rumor Mill". He states when things are rumor... what's the big deal? It's good reading.

I've said it before. PFT is a good read. Some of the stuff might be off but Florio has consistently broken stories -- alot of what he does is just good old fashion journalistic research -- for example, he hears something about a player being arrested and he goes and searches all of the jail records in the area.

Sure, some of his stuff is crap. But some of the leg work he does is impressive and I think that folks who work for the "real" media are a bit pissed that an amateur scoops them on occassion. Also, he's clearly got some good insight on agent-journalist relationships and he's always calling out the journalists who are pimping their agent-contact's clients.

Frankly, I find the site amusing and read it every day.

I have said it before and I will say it again.

Posters should not post until they know all the facts.

The overwhelming response of calling Mike Fisher an amateur/terrible reporter is pretty humorous to me. Fish has been a reporter in the Dallas area for a long time and often has better information (on particularly the mavs) than anyone else. The source of this board's criticisms are 1- he's written for a competing website. 2- his articles are now web based rather than through the newspaper (That's the only thing that could even possibly put him in the "amateur" category).

You certainly don't have to like fish, but calling him an amateur is just plain off base. The guy is a legit reporter that is often ahead of the curve with his information.

Exciting.

Let's review.

Fisher started in denver covering the Broncos.

Fisher worked as a beat reporter for the San Francisco 49ers for a San Fran paper.

He then worked the beat for the Ft. Worth Star Telegram as the beat writer for the Cowboys.

Both teams (9ers and Cowboys) were winning Super Bowls during these stints.

He then became a featured columnist for the Ft. Worth paper before taking a job with KLIF in Dallas as a radio personality with his own sports show.

He has two published books on the Cowboys during their time as the World's best.

What he doesn't do is rail on the team and use the poison pen style like Galloway and JFE and others to garner readership. Which puts him in the same category as Spagnola. People think of him as a cheerleader rather than a journalist.

But on KLIF he was the very first person, even before the 9ers won the 1994 Super Bowl to state Deion would be a Cowboy. He got that from Jerry. Pretty impressive for an amateur.

He may have drifted out of the lime light, but to suggest he is amateur is absurd.

Normal messageboard critics basing comments on opinions rather than facts.

Thanks, you said what I was trying to say, just better and with more facts. Calling people like Fish amateur and railing him is a good reminder to me that being an authority on a message board doesn't actually mean they are informed.
