SPARANO A DONE DEAL?

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that Dolphins G.M. Jeff Ireland is flying to Dallas, presumably to retrieve Cowboys offensive line coach Tony Sparano, who widely is presumed to be the next coach of the Fins.
Per Salguero, Ireland is expected to return with Sparano on Tuesday night. If all goes smoothly, Salguero expects the deal to be done on Wednesday.
Sparano’s agent, who also represents Fins V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells, already has prepared a preliminary contract.
Meanwhile, those reports and rumors of Mike Tice interviewing for the job and/or actually getting it ended up being completely off the mark. But make no mistake about it — Parcells has improved the standing of guys like Tice and Jim Schwartz and Leslie Frazier, potentially getting each of them raises by giving them interviews for a job that everyone knew was going to Sparano.
More importantly, the favors that Parcells has done for these guys will only increase the Tuna’s sphere of power and influence around the league.
Frankly, Parcells is no longer the Tuna . . . he’s the Godfather.
