SPARANO A DONE DEAL?

Posted by Mike Florio on January 15, 2008, 1:27 p.m.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that Dolphins G.M. Jeff Ireland is flying to Dallas, presumably to retrieve Cowboys offensive line coach Tony Sparano, who widely is presumed to be the next coach of the Fins.

Per Salguero, Ireland is expected to return with Sparano on Tuesday night. If all goes smoothly, Salguero expects the deal to be done on Wednesday.
Sparano’s agent, who also represents Fins V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells, already has prepared a preliminary contract.

Meanwhile, those reports and rumors of Mike Tice interviewing for the job and/or actually getting it ended up being completely off the mark. But make no mistake about it — Parcells has improved the standing of guys like Tice and Jim Schwartz and Leslie Frazier, potentially getting each of them raises by giving them interviews for a job that everyone knew was going to Sparano.

More importantly, the favors that Parcells has done for these guys will only increase the Tuna’s sphere of power and influence around the league.
Frankly, Parcells is no longer the Tuna . . . he’s the Godfather.

One of the proudest parts of Sundays game was when Sparano ripped the O-line. That's the type of fire I like to see in a Coach. We could have used more of that.

Even Aikman was pointing it out-too bad, however, we have NOONE on the 53 man roster that can do so.

Come on. We all know it's been a done deal for 2 weeks.

Exactly.

Parcells and Ireland had the deal done with Sparano a long time ago. Rules? What rules?

We don't need no stinking rules.

See you later Tony Sparano... I hope you can make the OL suddenly learn how to run-block, because you surely couldn't do it here....

Unbelievable that you would have one of the largest, if not largest offensive lines in the game, and you can't run the ball effectively....

Don't forget that he'll likely steal Bowles as well.

What do you mean, TB?

Push to the league that everyone knew it was already done, maybe?

Like I said in another thread, it does irritate me that this was done and he was arranging staff before our season was over.

At this point, don't let the door hit you in the arse, Tony.

Our line can't run block worth crap, and hasn't been able to for well over 2 years... if it weren't for the pocket presence of Tony Romo and the sheer will of Marion Barber, defenses would have tallied way more sacks and tackles behind the line of scrimmage against us...

Who cares if Sparano ripped the O-line... he is responsible for the way they have been playing overall...

We can get Mike Zimmer back as DBs coach.

If I'm not mistaken, it is against league rules to hire a coach from another team while their season is still going. You can only interview them...
