Posted by Mike Florio on February 9, 2008, 12:15 p.m.
At a time when most folks who pay attention to the television coverage of the NFL believe that Emmitt Smith will be “blowed up” by ESPN, a media source tells us that the current plan in Bristol is to bring Emmitt back for 2008.
Said the source, “ESPN isn’t crazy about Emmitt but the network feels like if they let him go, they would have been bullied into doing so.”
The source cautions that the decision isn’t set in stone. “People change their minds there every other second,” the source said.
And an objective review of Smith’s performances points inescapably to the conclusion that he should not be employed in the TV business. He cannot speak extemporaneously, and his analysis has the depth of a desert puddle.
He’s so terrible that he provides unintended comic relief. In fact, the only good thing about a possible return engagement is that it’ll give us — and many others — plenty of things to talk about next season.

Many people use the term 'Broads' and it was used long before the '70's. It has been around since the 20's (at least) and is still widely in use today is many places, particularly in the Northeast in places like New York City and Chicago. 'Chicks' and 'Babes' are still terms pretty much in vogue as well though 'Dames' (a term popular in the 40's and 50') went out in the 60's.TheCount;1949939 said:Who still uses the term Broads? AMEN Brother...Preach On!!!BehindEnemyLinez;1950022 said:Now, if only they'd can Kornheiser....:bang2:
I liked Jaws when he was doing the NFL films bit analyzing plays and game plans. His breakdowns and analysis is always very much right on but his style just doesn't work in game. In the booth it comes off as downright condescending and boring.CATCH17;1949960 said:They gotta clean up the Monday Night crew.
Sunday Night Football has just completely taken over as the premium game.
Tirico is about the only one I can stand on MNF and hes not that great.

And like several others on here I too think Suzy is a pretty hot Broad.

Tirico is a good play-by-play guy but he sometimes over does it when he gets on someone's bandwagon. He can be real annoying.
And Kornholeo makes me want to puke. I haven't hated an announcer so much since Kosel was stinking up the booth. But at least Kosel had Dandy Don to balance him out. There is Nobody there to cancel out Kornheiser's crap.
Yes Howard Cosell (you see how important he was to me...I can't even spell his name). He was a loud mouth jerk who knew nothing about football (or boxing or any other sport) and only served to butcher the broadcasts and annoy fans. If we had more like him today I'd have to watch all games with the sound off.ilovejerry;1950096 said:Do you Mean Howard Cosell, I loved him he was fantastic I wish we had more of him then these retards.............
