PFT: Texans trade DE Jason Babin to Seahawks for S Michael Boulware

TEXANS TRADE BABIN TO SEAHAWKS FOR BOULWARE by Michael David Smith

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have traded defensive end Jason Babin to the Seahawks for safety Michael Boulware.

Per McClain, the Texans became desperate for safety help today when rookie Brandon Harrison suffered a severely pulled hamstring in practice. He could wind up on injured reserve.

The Texans also lost Glenn Earl to a training camp injury, and starters C.C. Brown and Jason Simmons are both playing with bruised shoulders.

Babin was a 2004 first-round pick out of Western Michigan who led the Texans with five sacks last season. Boulware was a 2004 second-round pick out of Florida State who started eight games last year for the Seahawks.

The Bengals traded a 2008 draft pick to St. Louis for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

It's not certain if Fitzpatrick will replace backup Doug Johnson, who had a tough game on Thursday, or rookie third-stringer Jeff Rowe on the roster.

Good trade for Houston/Seattle. Houston had a real need at safety and Seattle needed another young pup to backup Bryce Fisher.

Well, what a novel idea. You need safety help so you trade someone on your roster from a deep position to fortify the position of need (safety).

If only we had thought of that the last 3 years at FS.

Good trade for Houston/Seattle. Houston had a real need at safety and Seattle needed another young pup to backup Bryce Fisher.

Houston does not lose much here Babin was drafted by Casserly and crew to play old in the 3-4 and so far with the Texans under Kubiak he has been solid guy.

I think Seattle got the better end of the deal. Babin is a promising pass rusher. While Boulware has been horrible in coverage to this date.
