T.O. DIDN'T GIVE WILSON THE FINGER, AFTER ALL

It looked the like the finger. It smelled the finger.

It wasn't the finger.

Per a source with access to more accurate images of the key moment in question than those that were televised by NBC on Sunday night, Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens did not flash his middle finger to Giants safety Gibril Wilson while heading to the end zone on a fourth-quarter catch-and-run.

"It was his index finger and he was waving it the way a parent would to a bad kid," the source said. "He should have been flagged for taunting."

Wilson said on Monday that he thought Owens had given him the finger. And that's why Wilson hit Owens well after Owens had scored.

We initially were convinced that it was the middle finger, especially in light of the way that Owens subtly dropped his hand toward the ground and showed it to Wilson as Owens ran away from him.

And we agree with the source -- Owens was taunting Wilson. Though Owens was not penalized, he could be fined.

PFT should be "fined" (aka sent to another planet with no internet access) for continually posting false information.

Anyone else have an issue with them pointing out that he could/should be fined two times, but failing to mention that Wilson should be fined for punching another player in the head.

On top of that, the giants DBs were apparently doing their fair share of "taunting" before they proceeded to be worked for 350 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Superpunk should email them that crow picture.
Link? I'll e-mail it to him. I've been going back and forth with this guy through e-mail for the past two days.

I had emailed them screenshots and the high res photo the day of the article and he responded that it may not be a middle finger but he was pointing and therefore should be fined for taunting. How convenient that they now have a source.

Pretty sure he was just holding up his index finger to indicate that 1 catch, 1 touchdown deal he had going since preseason after he made that td grab against the texans since the plays and outcome were pretty similar.

1) No apology for issuing a report prior to properly investigating a story.

2) Fine - a taunt might need to be a fine. So does assaulting a player after the play is over. No mention that Wilson also deserves a fine.

Nice how they're still hanging on to the "he still should be fined".

Maybe, but the clowns at PFT aren't the league office, much as they might like to be right now.

It's common when you stand over a player while he is on the ground. I've never heard of it for pointing.

I guess if Reggie Bush didn't get fined for pointing straight at Urlacher in a playoff game then proceeding to do a flip on his way into the endzone, then T.O. shouldn't either.

Maybe because he assumes that most players given a personal foul during a game will receive a fine. I'd assume that, as well.

And I think he's accurate when he says that TO should prolly be fined for taunting.

Bush was fined $5000 for that.
