Heading into another Super Bowl as a spectator rather than a participant, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo says any criticism of him for failing to get to the big game is fair.

“I think it’s all warranted,” Romo said on ESPN Radio, per the Dallas Morning News. “I think it’s all about winning at this position. Yeah the stats and all that are fun for people to talk about, but it’s really not about that. It’s about winning. It’s about getting better and playing at your best when it counts. I think we all understand that. I’m no different. . . . I know that you have to win, you have to win the Super Bowl and you have to win big games. And that’s just what matters to people that are watching. And I’m the same way when I watch a different sport.”

Asked if he’s jealous of any other NFL quarterbacks, Romo said he isn’t jealous of their talents, but he is jealous that Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger will be playing in the Super Bowl while he’s watching.

Appearing on ESPN Radio on Friday, Tony Romo shouldered the responsibility for the team's 2010 struggles.

"I think it’s all warranted," Romo said with regards to the criticism he's received. "I think it’s all about winning at this position. Yeah the stats and all that are fun for people to talk about, but it’s really not about that. It’s about winning." Romo reiterated that he'd be able to play if the season started today, and that he's jealous that quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers are playing in the Super Bowl. The Cowboys and Romo face an uphill battle in getting to next year's big game.

I'm curious.

When the Super Bowl was played in Miami during Don Shula's tenure, like it was for X, XIII, XXIII, XXIX, and XXXIII, did the mediots badger him and the Dolphins about not being in a Super Bowl in their own backyard? Did they ask Dan Marino if he was jealous of the Barry Manilow look-alike or the fat-butted Mr. Ed or the guy that looked like Paul Reiser?

Why are they doing it to us? I think the answer lies within the question itself.

nope. Nor have they anywhere ever.

and next year when the super bowl is in indinapolis if the colts dont make the questions to the players in it will probably be do you feel honored to play in the stadium that is home to Peyton manning.

Oh, yeah. And Jim Irsay and Bill Polian will be the greatest owner/GM combo in the history of the NFL.

You know what I would like: for the Cowboys to win that Super Bowl in New York. That would be cool.

Nothing says I'm a jack *** who mistakingly thinks i'm the smart guy quite like a good ol' rolleyes

winning that new york superbowl would be incredible.

In a perfect world we could beat the pats right in the backyard of the espn idiots.

Would be even more fun if we beat the giants in ny in the nfc championship games.

that would be the ultimate payback for that 07 playoff loss.

No, you're right. We've never had a good team around Tony his entire time here.

I believe he said get a team around him. That would imply that he doesn't have a good team around him right now. Or maybe he is being literal he thinks that Romo actually doesn't have a football team. in that case he would be quite wrong but I'm assuming he meant the former. Now that I have made that groundbreaking assumption I will add that he is quite right, as I remember our Defense and O-line not exactly lighting it up this season.

Making the statement he did, while being slightly vague and open to interpretation, seems to imply that the poster feels Romo has never had a chance to do anything great because he's never had a good team around him.

..which is hogwash, if that is the point he is trying to make.

Apparently, Romo plays defense and special teams too. It's been missed tackles by him, missed FGs, bad punt and kick coverage, broken coverage by him, and even missed blocks and passes that he's dropped, and routes that he's stopped on that have caused all of the Cowboys woes the last 4 years.

I am so glad that CowboysZone experts were able to tune me in to this. If only we could find a QB that plays CB, FS, SS, MLB, DT, RT, RG, K, P, LS, WR, and ST gunner. Only then will we: CHAMPIONSHIP.

Did anyone hear blame Tony for our bad defense or bad ST play?

Or are you just exaggerating ridiculously to try and create a defense for the guy when no one was even attacking him?

The article was about how he shouldered the blame himself for the bad season, not that people were blaming him completely for it.
