They never draft backs in the 1st rd. Him going to the Eagles is more Cowboy fan driven.
First, I expect a trade down with Roseman trying to squeeze as much out of this spot as possible. Then I think they are going defense, ED ( Nolan Smith or maybe Van Ness) LBer. Robinson doesn't add enough to an already-stacked offense to justify the 10th overall pick.

I agree, trade down very possible, but they are going to look to add more defensive pieces and probably more OL.

Couple things........It appears the Eagles, like the Cowboys, are well-positioned going into the draft. I'm expecting them to trade down a bit ( Roseman continues stashing future draft picks) Also, as stated before, no one is talking about it but a couple of teams drafting before maybe see Gibbs's speed and/or passing-catching skills as a better fit for their offense. In other words, it's not a reach to think some team could draft him before Robinson.

Where will Bijan Robinson land in the draft?

Posted by Mike Florio on April 16, 2023, 9:44 AM EDT

Texas running back Bijan Robinson is widely viewed as one of the best players in the draft. But he’s a running back, and running backs don’t get drafted as high as they once did.

The NFL has come a long way from 2005, when three running backs (Ronnie Brown, Cedric Benson, Cadillac Williams) went in the top five. Last year, there were no first-round running backs at all. Since the Giants took Saquon Barkley with the second overall pick in 2018, no running back has been taken higher than 24th (Josh Jacobs in 2019, Najee Harris in 2021).
Eagles aren't taking a RB, teams to watch out for: Atlanta, New England, Detroit, Tampa, Chargers, Minnesota. I highly doubt he makes it through this gauntlet.
With all the QBs going before 10 the Eagles will have a blue chip defensive player and Peter Skoronski on the board. They aren't taking Robinson at 10. My fear is they package their 30th pick with their 2024 2nd round pick and move up to take him if he falls into the late teens.
Bijan will be drafted somewhere in the range of #11 to #25.

The Eagles are going top draft Robinson. Forget what "they" say about drafting a RB in the first round, he's the missing piece to a dominant offense. Added to the rest of their young playmakers, their offense truly becomes a "pick your poison" nightmare for several seasons..

I can taste the acid boiling in my stomach, the price I have to pay for an honest, unbiased opinion. I hate coming to this conclusion but when you look at their quarterback, the WR's and the O-line, Robinson just seems like that piece to complete the puzzle.

Yes, their QB is a prolific runner. So, what if he shared the backfield with one of the most dangerous runners in the league? Not only that, but how expensive is Bijan compared to what he could produce? He would be an absolute bargain.
Been saying this for months. I always believed that some team was going to draft him earlier than "expected". The Eagles are in the perfect spot and can afford the luxury to do it.

They already have a dominant offense. If they were smart they would continue to do what they do. Take lineman and draft a RB later in the draft. Any of 10 backs in this draft can get 1400 yards behind that line. Now if he lasts to 30, fine take him.

The Eagles obliterated run defenses last year with Miles Sanders, Gainwell and Scott at RB. They don't need to invest a 1st for a RB. They can find a RB in the 2nd-4th rounds whose play style fits their system and not miss a beat.
A guy that understand football. Only Jerry does dumb things like that.

Hope he lives up to the hype.

A pretty long list of RBs taken in the top half of the 1st round (many considered sure things) that disappointed or flat-out busted.

Not at all predicting that but just sayin'
Any good

back will look like a champ behind that line with Hurts holding the DE on the handoff fake.

There is no missing piece. That offense is already dominant. And its because of that Oline.

The caveat to the running back situation is the class is so deep like the tight end position.
Yes, the draft is deep in RB's. However, is this draft deep in elite RB's? Generally speaking, running the ball takes pressure off the passing game. You can use an average RB if that is the main objective.

However, if you have an elite RB then that forces defenses to gameplan for that RB then it really opens up the passing game if you have the personnel.

Robinson is an elite RB and the Eagles have the personnel.

There are analysts onboard with this idea:

https://news.yahoo.com/why-eagles-rb-bijan-robinson-090429870.html

"My philosophy on running backs is I don't mind taking a running back in the first round, as long as your team is ready to win right now," NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said on a recent conference call. "If you take into account the guy has four, five, or six years of elite production, I don't mind getting him in the first round because you get the extra year on the contract. It's easy to control. Then I have a franchise tag number if I want, and that could kind of take me through all of his prime.
The Eagles seem to be indicating some interest. Robinson is on their visit list. And then there is this comment:

"Offenses dominate in this league," Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie told reporters at the NFL annual meeting in late March. "That’s why we’ve always focused more resource allocation on making sure we have an outstanding offense because it is very hard to stop."

Finally, the Eagles don't have to draft him with the #10 overall pick. They are in prime position to trade down if one or more of the QB's begin to slide. In that case, teams will overpay to move up and the Eagles can move down to the middle of the first round while picking up excellent additional value and still drafting Robinson.

I accept your post and wonder if there’s an alternative running back? As an example Gibbs. Gibbs offers elite receiving ability and scatter back elusiveness on a 200 pound frame. I don’t believe play we’re select Gibbs but I think you’ll be a star in the league

You could be right. This is why I take the week of the draft off every year. The unknown, the surprises, the treachery. It's great. But let me give an alternate opinion.
You take the ENTIRE WEEK of the draft off every year?

I will be surprised if he gets by CHI or PHL with two of the best running QB’s in the league.

I would also not be surprised if Gibbs goes before him with the Faulk comparisons.

I know, sounds amazing. Draft is also my favorite NFL event of the year, aside from my team making a deep playoff run. But I’d 100% take day 1 draft night over Eagles Cowboys in September or October

Probably a minority opinion but the drama is nuts

I've taken draft day off, but I can't imagine (other than just having days off) why anyone would need the whole week for the NFL draft, but to each their own. I've gone to almost every draft party the Cowboys throw. Now that I have a 4 year old, he enjoys going and doing the stuff they set up for the kids, so I'll be at Dysfunction Junction next Thursday.
