Briggs-to-Commanders not dead yet

I have heard from both sides of the equation, and I can say with certainty that the Lance Briggs trade talks with the Commanders are not finished. The Commanders remain interested -- they just won't give up Rocky McIntosh. The Bears want something to happen to eliminate the distraction, but they want Washington to sweeten the pot.

One indication that the Commanders are expecting to pick in the 30s and not at No. 6: They are interviewing offensive guards, including Tennessee's Aaron Sears, who would make great fits at the end of Round One. The Skins lost Derrick Dockery and don't have a natural fit to replace him (I don't consider 6-8 Todd Wade a realistic fit, anyway).

The Bears don't want to pick at six but reportedly are shopping the pick around, which is what the Commanders have been doing for more than a month. If they stay there, expect them to pick LSU's Laron Landry. If they trade it, expect a lineman on either side of the ball. It almost seems like the Commanders are desperate to make a move out of that sixth spot and are thrilled at the idea of getting instant value from someone such as Briggs, even if he's not exactly what they need.

Stay tuned. This thing has life still.

Kiper said the same thing on ESPN Radio Staurday. He said he expects the deal to get done. Maybe even this week.

I'd be pissed to hear that, if I were a Falcons fan.

After the trade with the Texans they have enough ammo to get up in the draft ahead of the Bears. They could also move down again and add more picks and take Reggie Nelson. Lots of options for the Falcons.

I think Calvin Johnson is the best player in this draft and Laron Landry is 2nd best. Good move for the Bears if they do that.

:pray2:

Please let the Commanders continue to screw up their draft (and free agency), it's nice to only have two teams in the division to worry about.

the Falcons have holes all over that sorry defense

their LB's cant cover anybody (niether can their DB's) and they have nothing at DE save injury proned John Abraham

if they dont get Landry, dont be surprised if they end up with Anderson or Akoye

Are we talking about the Falcons? Or our defense? :D

They made the mistake of overpaying a B-more LB, and then he got hurt. Now, they've inexplicably let Kerney walk, and picked up the Zim. Uh-oh...

Trouble comes when you structure your entire team against a player who can't carry it.

You also hear that they're working with the Patriots to ship off the #6 pick for Asante Samuel and the #28.

So, as a Redsk*n-hating Cowboys fan, who would you rather see them get? Briggs or Samuel?

dont worry...even if they stay at 6 odds are they will find someway to screw that up to

"and with the 6th pick of the 2007 NFL draft, the Washington Commanders select:

Reggie Ball, QB, Georgia Tech...

Snyder- hey, somebody had to make Calvin Johnson look good enough to go in the top-5"

:lmao:

It'd be even funnier if Calvin were still on the board at the time!

The Falcons will be a much improved team next season. Their secondary will be pretty good if they draft Landry or Nelson.

You guys don't seem to get it.

I am telling you, with the way the media is reporting it, Jamarcus Russel is going to be throwing TD passes to Calvin Johnson while handing off to Adrian Peterson. Meanwhile Lance Briggs and Asante Samuel will be shoring up our D

It does seem to be the natural order of things-- water's wet, the sky is blue, and Danny Boy's Skins "underachieve"...

In spite of (actually, probably because of) that Hall of Fame coaching staff... :D
