Stewart sticks out among RBs

Well, I had hoped to send a blog aftrer our annual PFW St. Elmo's bash, but in the back of my mind, I knew that was going to be an ambitious undertaking. More on Elmo's later; the main topic in this post is the RBs that were on display yesterday.

By far the most impressive is Oregon's Jonathan Stewart, who weighed in at 5-10, 235 and has his sights set on cranking out a forty time in the low 4.4s on Sunday. This kid is one impressive physical specimen. You could just see that he's chiseled, but what struck me was his massive hands, which were wrapped around the podium platform.

Stewart has shot past the likes of Darren McFadden and Rashad mendenhall and appears destined to be the top RB selected. He plans on running and lifting on Sunday, and it will be interesting to see how he does. As for Mendenhall, I have to give him credit for doing a good job handling all the questions about his character issues. But his media presence isn't great

Quick blog correction
Oops. In my last blog, I said Rashard Mendenhall was queried excessively on character issues, but that was McFadden who is getting the heat. Sorry about that. Elmos's might have had something to do with that brain lock. Like I said in the last post, more on Elmo's later.

regarding McFadden.

I am not sold on his character and what kind of professional he is going to be. Yes, he has talent, but not worth morgaging the draft for a virtual unknown of how he is going to be professionally off the field.

The Jones' know McFadden and I don't think they have any qualms about his character.

So Stewart looks great in his underwear and now he's the number 1 RB according to the writer of the article? :laugh2:

Anyway, I'd be very happy with Stewart if he fell to us . . . .

It's beginning to sound like Randy Moss in '98 all over again.

But I guarantee no one in the NFL knows more about McFadden's character issues than Jerry with his Arkansas ties. Jerry's known about McFadden since he signed with Arkansas out of high school. I can't see Jerry letting him slide too far unless he knows some really bad information on him.

I've been growing more interested in Stewart as of late. Saw some video the other day and he seems like a level headed person as well. Said he doesn't like to do TV that much so Im not sure there would be enough cubby holes for both him and Barber to hide from the media in.

I certainly hope there are 21 stupid NFL teams who move Stewart ahead of McFadden because of how he answers media questions.

I'm curious on which RB has the best blend of power, agility and speed? I don't remember seeing any games with Stewart at all. I only saw a few games with Mcfadden and Jones. Jones didn't really stick out other than his speed and I can see why tons of folks are salivating over DMC. I saw Mendenhall in the bowl game and when Illinois played and beat OHio ST. But that was really more the Juice Williams show that day. I liked what I saw of Rice, but I'm not sure he'll blow by anybody

What did the kid from East Carolina run? He was in the Charlotte paper this morning talking about hoping to run a sub 4.3!

You are right, I was going to add that but it seems a case where my hands weren't working as fast as my brain.

So regardless of location of the picks.

What RB coming out in this draft has the best combination of Speed, Agility, Power, and Vision?

And why should they? The kid has never gotten in trouble except for one case where he didn't even get arrested as he was helping protect his brother who was being attacked by a bunch of guys.

If that's bad character, then I'll be a bad apple any day of the week.
