The more things change, the more they stay the same
So Mike Wilkening was reading the 1972 NFL draft story from the New York Times — ok, that's classic Wilkey, but don't ask me to explain why — and he came across this fine nugget in the final paragraph of the story by William Wallace (not Longshanks, who is rumored to be a distant relative of mine, I should add):
"Washington, which traded its choices for proven players in a 'now' program, will make its first choice today when the eighth round comes up."
I thought that was funny.
