PFW: Boom Or Bust List For 2008 Draft Picks

24. RB Chris Johnson — Titans
Prediction:
Bust
One of the more curious first-round picks, Johnson might be faster than Felix Jones by a hair, but he’s nowhere near the same all-around performer. Johnson might fill a role as a specialist who makes a few eye-opening plays, but there is little chance he’ll be a bell-cow back with his size and fragility.

Maybe they mean a bugs bunny type of HARE :D .

Hate to interrupt the Dukes love going on between you and Boston Cowboy but Flacco is not an alum of JMU. He was drafted out of Univ. of Deleware, where he played after transferring from Univ. of Pittsburgh.

22. RB Felix Jones — Cowboys
Prediction: Boom
I tried not to get too excited by Jones’ athleticism or versatility, or by the team that picked him, but he appears to be coming into a perfect position. Jones has burn, and he won’t face the brunt of being a 15- or 20-carry back and the damage that comes with it. Instead, the Cowboys will get the most bang for their buck by using him in a variety of roles that will showcase his exceptional long speed and playmaking.

Alright, I kinda stopped taking him serious after this. If I have to read a bias, I usually like to read a bias against the Boys. It seems like whoever Dallas drafted at RB here, it would be a boom. Same for CB. His reason is because they don't have to step up right away..

I think his point was playing against JMU... not for them. Just like he wasn't drafted by the Colts.

Well, look at what they have to do: be better than Julius Jones was the last few years. That's not going to be that hard.

Just re-read it. Thanks Velvet. My bad Tomson75.

I agree with just about all of them. I think that some of the busts though, could be a product of the team they were drafted to (see the LB to bengals) rather than there physical/mental deficiency.

I want to know why the writer doesn't think Chris Johnson is versatile?
How often do the first five picks in a draft all turn out to be players?

Call me a homer but I love what Dallas did with their first 2 picks... They addressed serious need at both positions.

McFadden= Reggie Bush= Overrated, Bust!

The fact that a lot of people label Bush a bust after two years only means one thing, there's a lot of people who wish him ill will. Granted, I think his girlfriend is one serious skank, but I think Bush and the entire Saints team is really going to make some noise this year.

Well, I guess that solves that controversy. :)

Actually, I agreed with most of Edholm's picks.

Not bad, but I think the first two probably won't amount to much. IMO, Jake Long looks like he has a serious lack of mobility and doesn't really drive with his legs too well. Chris Long has a fine motor, but he ain't his daddy.

I agree on the Gholston pick, *** were they thinking?

No ill will. Just watched him play and compared that to the hype surrounding him. They hype is not his fault, but he hasn't come close to living up to that hype. Even minus the hype, he has not played up to a #2 overall draft pick in my opinion. I have watched many first round running backs. Reggie is not a bust like many of them, but he hasn't been a force like others, either.

He has not revolutionized the game and won't. He will probably play better and produce bigger numbers, but he is not a once in a life time player. I did not expect him to rush for 1000 yards a season(the hype had him going for over 2000 yards a season), but I think we all should expect him to at least average over 4 yards per carry. He is at 3.67 yards per carry over two seasons. That is pedestrian.

It is not as if Sean Payton is not utilizing the guy to his abilities. Payton is probably doing as good as job as anyone in getting the most out of Bush. Can you imagine if Reggie played for Bill Parcells or Joe Gibbs? Those guys would not do what Payton does with Bush.

Um, you said the hype isn't his fault...and then point out that he hasn't lived up to the hype. Guys who are drafted #2, or even #1 for that matter, can't possibly be expected to "revolutionize the game." It's that simple -- the only people suggesting he would are those that are ignorant to the game of football and its history.

IMO, Bush will turn out to be a very serious threat whenever he's on the field, whether it be in the passing game (which are stats you have chosen to gloss over) or the running game, or special teams. And that's all you can ask for from a #1 draft choice.

Bush's reception total is high with 161 over two years. The average of 7.20 yards per reception is not that high and it was only 5.7 yards per reception last year. He only has 4 receiving TDs. The Saints give him plenty of opportunities. They are among the top teams in passing attempts the last two years.

The guy has not been a very serious threat whenever he's been on the field. Why is that suddenly going to change? He will get better, but he won't suddenly turn into a threat every time he touches the ball. If that were the case he would already be showing that just like Maurice Jones-Drew does in Jacksonville.
