they rated Vernon Gholston as a DE, and had him rated as 1 and Chris Long 2
at ILB they have Lofton 1, Bell 2 and Larsen 3, though they dont think much of the position as a whole (graded it a D)..at OLB they have Rivers 1, Connor 2 and E Henderson 3...A Highsmith is rated a little lower than I excpected at 7...they have Curtis Johnson from Clark rated 19th and basically that he is a project but overall they like him
the DB's I'm sure are where most of us are interested, and I do think we'll draft 2 or 3 over the pan of the weekend...we really need to upgrade the 3 and 4 CB positions, and with RW not playing up to expectations (could be his last yr here in 08) and Hamlin not yet signed long term (his long term status might be tied to RW, if RW is cut next offseason he certainyl gets a long term deal, but after what average players liek M Williams and G Wilson got, I wouldnt be surprised if they try to get hamlin to play out 1yr on the franchise tag before doing anything else) S is also an area of need.
at CB, they did rate Reggie Smith in this area and have him 3rd, but note he could easily be a good FS candidate...they have McKelvin 1 (and love him "excellent size and feet, loose hips and pedals as fluidly as any CB in draft, is very effecient in press man or off man coverage and can cling to receivers, puts his foot on ground and pops out of his pedal with explosion"...they have Flowers 2nd and note he could also end up at safety...on Mike Jenkins, they do say he has good size speed ratio and could be a shutdown CB, but they have alot of negative stuff on him (plays down to level of comp, finds excuses to not practice, takes too many plays off, will turn down contact, avg ball skills does not like to play special teams) they have him 4th...they really like Auburns Patrick Lee and have him 5th (I think he's underrated too, he had a really solid yr in the SEC and has good size &speed and alot of man to man exp)...on Cromartie they have as 6th overall, they like him alot too...(great athlete with natural hands, excellent leaping ability, natural ballhawk, attacks the ball in the air good feet with long arms and a good competitor)...only real negative was the marginal comp and being somehwta thin, they mention tackling issues but as I recall he did well with this in th postseason allstar games...they are pretty negative about Talib...says he feelances too much, doesnt use his hands well, lacks recovery speed and no extra gear, doesnt play to his size in the redzone, not a quick twitch athlete, surprisngly soft tackler and will miss alot, very arrogant and says he is "glaringly weak" in press coverage "likely will be overdrafted"...pretty positive thoughts on UConn's Tyvon Branch and Indian's Trace Porter (11 and 12 overall) but they had Antione Cason rated pretty low, 17th overall and as a 3rd-4th rd pick...on the positives they note thats he's strong and can reroute receivers, good route recognition and instincts to jump routes and great ball skills, on the negatives they note he isnt a good athlete, has marginal plant and drive quickness and slow change of duriection, says he is a "timid" tackler and got run over on occassion, also says he is undiscplined in man coverage and think overall he may be a FS/CB tweener but thinks he fits best in a cover 2 scheme
Safety they rate low as well (graded it a D)...they have a real sleeper rated number 2 (Tyrell Johnson from Arkansa St) and have Kenny Phillips rated 3rd (and they dont like him very much either, alot of negatives cited)...Josh Barrett is rated 5th, Cbikowski from ND is rated 9th and they dont thnik alot of him either
on the Cowboys they pretty much agree with everyone else, that CB, WR, RB and S are the top needs in that order
