That actually makes sense.

How they going to do that?

I really doubt they are moving up to take a QB after they just spent something like $50MM+ on two QBs.

Bradford's contract is for 2 years. Just enough time for Wentz to sit and learn. Daniels is a career backup. Wentz takes over when Bradford is done.

Rookie contracts are relatively cheap. Even for QB's at the top of the 1st round. And Philly has tons of cap room. Money is not the issue.

They just moved up to #8. So it won't cost that much to go to #3. If I were the Eagles, that's the move I would make.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

Rookie contracts are not that cheap. If Philly takes Wentz at 3, he's due probably $24MM, which is entirely guaranteed. So now you have $50MM in GUARANTEED MONEY to your QBs. And Philly has some cap space but not a ton and they have some big contracts coming up that they have to deal with - Fletcher Cox, for example. And with what top DTs are getting in free agency, he's going to get paid quite a bit.

Miami made a bad deal. That was a total gift to get from 13 to 8. To give you an idea of what it might cost to move up............... the 3rd pick is worth 2,200 on the value chart. The 8th pick is worth 1,400. Now while the chart isn't exact, it gives you an idea of the difference in value to move up.

For Philly to get to 3, they are talking next year's #1, maybe both their thirds this year (they don't have a #2 pick). They really don't have players to trade either, unless they do something crazy like trade a Lane Johnson to a team that needs an OT.

If they trade Bradford after this year, they will save $17 million on the cap. With Chase Daniels getting a strangely large amount of money for a backup, there is even speculation that Bradford might not last the year. I think Philly drafts a QB, plays Bradford this year, cuts/releases Bradford, Daniels becomes the man who helps teach the young QB the offense (sound familiar? Peterson and McNabb), and the young QB takes over the following year.

Bradford's bonus is not due until 3/18 or 3/28, so they could trade him and their 8th pick, maybe a second next year for the Browns 2nd pick. They way they have been putting the jedi mind trick on teams, I would not be surprised to see this happen.
