I found these via a link in Starkists' thread in the off-topic zone, and thought they were pretty outstanding. This place is starting to come into its own.

I can't wait for Week one, opening night on a Thursday. 80,000 people, Cowboys /Eagles to open up the season.

My mouth is watering.

Wow.

That stadium is a beauty. Very forward-looking.
Actually looks like it was inspired by a Donald Trump design.

I dont know that I would have gone with the roof overhang over the sides though.

Other than that. Just WOW!!

I love everything about this design except the white roof again. It looks great now but I fear it will fade like texas stadium's roof and look terrible a few years down the road. Hopefully they have some new material that will resist it.

Very impressive. Looks like a flying saucer from some of those angles.

Hopefully the Cowboys open the 09 season on Thursday night as defending Super Bowl champs in our new stadium (name still unknown). Bet the Cowboys will set a new ratings record for a season opener. Every Cowboy fan will be watching that game & loving the team & our new stadium. Those who hate us will be moaning & groaning as usual with their envy fully on display.

Anyone know what the deal is with that large free standing wall in the first two pics?

In a fit of jealously, Daniel Snyder purchased land directly beside the new Texas Stadium. His goal? To build a wall both high and wide enough that it would completely block the view of the stadium on that side. Unfortunately for him, he came up come. Again. :(

That was where two oustide huge tv monitors was supposed to go. I heard later they moved those two to the ends instead for when you walk in the main ends you would have a monitor there.

so now I do not know if they went back to the original plans (to install monitors on the sides)

I think he was referring to the brown walls that are on the ground. Not the Big screens on the stadium

80000 not making a single sound. I wonder how we're going to give teams the 12th man HFA in the new digs when we can't do it in a smaller Texas Stadium.

not sure. I am pretty sure the outdoor screens for the fans walking in and in the lots are the ones on the side. The giant square. Not the rectangular wall.

I am not sure what that is for.

I love everything about this model. The Cowboys will be the envy of not only the sports world, but the architechtural world, as well. With the glass walls, retractable glass doors that rise 160 ft., the 60 ft. wide TV screens above the field, and, of course, the retractable hole in the roof.

Add to all that the 1/4 mile arches, and you have one of the wonders of the world. I loved it when JJ said on Hard Knocks, "They shouldn't let someone who is so intoxicated & in love with the NFL and the Cowboys to have enough credit to build something like this". (Paraphrase)

Was there ever a groundbreaking ceremony or photo? Jerry with the shovel? etc?

Yeah, I remember the plans for the outdoor screen....still surprised that it seems to be in a non-widescreen format though. That shape seems weird to me now.

I was just curious what that brownish wall's purpose was. I looks odd, but somehow interesting. Mural maybe? Some sort of shrine or memorial platform?
