FRISCO, Texas — Forrest Gump isn't the only one tasked with running until his shoes melt into the asphalt beneath them, because it's sounding more and more as if Brian Schottenheimer and the Dallas Cowboys will enact the same strategy for their offense in 2025 and beyond.

It's a vision declared upfront by Schottenheimer, as early as his inaugural address in early February, crystal-clear on what he's hoping to establish in the construction of his offensive coaching staff.

"We're going to do a great job of marrying our runs and our passes and make those look the same," said Schottenheimer. "I'm proud to say at two different times in my career as a coordinator, we led the league in rushing, and they go hand in hand. The running game and the action pass game go hand in hand."

With the staff now finalized, make no mistake about it, that path is set in stone.

The Cowboys must now address the RB position with multiple moves. It is imperative that they find more than one productive RB. They need serious competition at that position.

The only RB that I would keep on the present roster is Dowdle and only if the contract demands are not inflated.

As far as the O-line is concerned, I really believe they are close but need more experience. Two projected starters will be in their 2nd season, another in his 3rd and another in his 4th. Terence Steele is the most tenured and will be entering his 6th season. They need some depth pieces with potential to compete.

Draft 2 backs and sign an undrafted back as well.

Cowboys Offense has the piece to establish the type of identity they want this season. One or two UFA OL could bridge the gap and allow the coaches to evaluate this young OL group before committing to drafting another OL with a premium pick.

2 physical RBs to go with the OL style is very easy to acquire this offseason. Also, after watching the ARZ Offense TE blocking is very important, so those guys are going to need to pack a lunch.

Dallas needs everything.

Starting the rebuild with the Oline is fine by me.
They need upgrade on offense at

RB1, WR2, RG

I look for them to bring in Will Hernandez to bring the nasty at RG. Jeanty at RB would be nice as well

..oh oh, ... this is getting serious. (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)

McCarthy promised a run game after he got KM kicked out of town. MM didn't keep his promise, so no one should expect Shotty to keep his.

3 reasons why Deuce Vaughn could have breakout season

FRISCO, Texas – There is a rule that many coaches, including the likes of Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells have adopted in the past when it comes to evaluating players.

While it might take a year or two for a player to develop, by Year 3 he should be turning the corner and molding into the player he's going to be.

Plain and simple, if he's not developed by his third season, then it's probably not going to happen.

Now there are always exceptions to those rules. But by in large, the pressure starts to mount of the players when they enter that third season.

And that's exactly where we stand with running back Deuce Vaughn, who has been limited in his opportunities the first two seasons.

Dallas’ decision here really set the table for the rest of their offseason. If they spend big on Odighizuwa or another free agent DT, they’ll be more likely to focus on WR and RB with those early-round draft picks. As an internal free agent, Odighizuwa’s future could be decided before the market opens on March 12th. Teams have until March 4th to use the franchise tag, so we’ll see what we’re dealing with soon.

Basic philosophy of football. Win the trenches, win the game.

Football 101 stuff. Now prove your serious in FA and the draft.
Yes, but some need it explained to them, through others thoughts. CCs post set up the nail, you hammered it....you two sharing your thoughts have provided a much needed football 101 lesson for some young poster. :muttley:

Cowboys ranked 27th in rushing last season......are the 26 other teams that out-rushed them suddenly gonna be outmatched by this alleged "violence"

More roster building and less just talking a big game

Yeah, when i think physical and violent RB the image that comes to mind is Vaughn

I mentioned a G the Cowboys should target in the draft with a comp pick over in the draft zone . Rookie contract for this position much better then spending FA $ on the OL .
