Mock Draft March 14th 2021 - PI Day Draft

Just an attempt to see what could happen when we get to the 10th pick and what Dallas could do.
In Free Agency and given Dallas wants to accomphlish quite a bit before Dak contract runs out, going to go with Dallas making some sphlashes this March. First they sign Dalvin Tomlinson DT from the Giants to a 4 yr deal, then go all in on John Johnson at FS for a 4 yr deal with two voidable years to make it a six year deal (same with Tomlinson) before also signing Malik Hooker FS to a two year deal as a make or break deal since Hooker will probably start the season on IR. Then they sign Michael Davis CB to ensure the CB spot before the draft. Lastly they sign Keanu Neal S to back up WIlson or maybe even start. They should resign Aldon Smith DE, Chidobe Awuzie CB, Joe Looney OC, LP Ladouceur LS and Joe Thomas LB. Bring back Sean Lee as LB coach and a guy you could sign to play if needed.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars - Trevor Lawrence QB Clemson - no brainer, if they don't take him then the draft is going to turn upside down.

2. NY Jets - trade - a number of teams will be willing to give up a lot to move up but betting Chicago who isn't going to get Russell Wilson in a trade offers the Jets #20, #52, 1st in 2022, 1st in 2023, and Allen Robinson WR. Jets decide to ride with Sam for a year or two and take the offer.

2. Chicago Bears - Trey Lance QB North Dakota St - tough choice between Wilson and Lance but Bears view Lance with more upside and he will learn quite a bit from Nick Foles for at least a few games before they start him.

3. Miami Dolphins - with Wilson still on the board Denver coming calling and offer Miami #9, #40, 1st in 2022, and 2nd in 2023 to outbid all others and Miami accepts

3. Denver Broncos - Zach Wilson QB BYU - compares somewhat to Elway and should solve the QB position in Denver for years to come, is he worth it will remain to be seen but with Mahomes and Herbert in the division they have to have a star and they believe Wilson will become the guy.

4. Atlanta Falcons - Mac Jones QB Alabama - Falcons call an audible here with Fields on the board they surprise and take Jones to sit behind Ryan for at least a year. Jones has a great arm like Ryan although Jones is more mobile. Jones fits the new HC type of QB so a big plus.

5. Cincinnati Bengals - Penei Sewell LT Oregon - this is a no brainer for the Bengals, you have to protect your franchise QB and Sewell is the best LT in the draft

6. Philadelphia Eagles - Rashawn Slater OL Northwestern - the best overall lineman in the draft and second best LT, many think Eagles will go WR here or TE here after Ertz is traded but their offense will keep struggling unless they fix the OL and Slater can be a starter at any of the 5 OL positions and be an All Pro

7. Detroit Lions - Ja'marr Chase WR LSU - much debate on who is the best WR in the draft but Lions have to have a #1 guy for Goff to have any success, definitely helps improve the O in Detroit

8. Carolina Panthers - another trade here as Houston finally accepts Panthers offer for Deshaun Watson. Houston gets #8, #39, 1st in 2022, 1st in 2023, Teddy Bridgewater, Christian McCafferty RB, and Derrick Brown DT. A great haul for Houston and most will see as to much but Carolina owner and coach believe they can win the division with Watson and giving up so much.

8. Houston Texans - Caleb Farley CB Virginia Tech - adding a shutdown CB give the defense a lot of help after also acquiring Brown at DT. Even with Bridgewater at QB this team will compete for the division.

9. Miami Dolphins - Devonta Smith WR Alabama - Dolphins never wanted to move out of the top 10 so to ensure they got one of the 3 best WRs and now Tua has his guy. the AFC East is going to be tough. Dolphins will trade with Chargers getting #13 for #18, #82 and 4th in 2022 to take Micah Parson LB Penn St then trade with Tampa for #32 giving up #36 and #124 and take Najee Harris RB Alabama. They would then be ready to compete for the AFC East crown with Buffalo.

10. Dallas Cowboys - should they go CB or TE or LB or WR or OL or S, lots of options but the only blue chip guy left is really Pitts and don't see Stephen or Jerry wanting to pull the trigger that high on a TE. If you look at the remaining OL then you know you can get an OT in second or third with as much upside as any left in the 1st. Do we really think they will go LB again, I don't. That leaves CB because no S is worth a top 10 pick but with CB if you compare them with the draft picks over the last 2 years then none of them considered 1st round this year would have gone near that high in the last two years. So San Francisco coming calling offering #12 and #43 to move down two spots as they want Justin Fields QB and willing to slightly overpay to move up 2 spots and Dallas says go for it.

10. San Francisco 49ers - Justin Fields QB Ohio St - it is the right team for Fields where he can sit and learn but with that HC and OC he will get playing time and plays in special situations before starting the 2022 season as the starter.

12. Dallas Cowboys - after the Giants take Jaylen Waddle WR Alabama, Dallas is back on the clock and several good options still avaiable but Stephen is on the phone and Minnesota is calling as they want Christian Darrisaw OT and they know they have to move above the Chargers to get him. They offer Dallas #14, #79 and #135 for the right to move up two spots as Dallas had multiple offers to move down.

14. Dallas Cowboys - Kyle Pitts TE Florida - shouldn't be surprised as he should be the BPA on the Cowboys board here and sure that New England would take him at #15. They will get calls to move down and most everyone is thinking CB here but Dalls sticks to what they have been doing and take a generational pick in Pitts. More weapons for Dak and a guy that can also play in the slot or out wide or inline as a blocker. After free agency where Dallas bit the bullet and signed Keanu Neal SS, John Johnson FS and Dalvin Tomlinson DT along with Gerald McCoy DT with also resigning Aldon Smith DE, Chidobe Awuzie CB and Joe Looney OC/OG, this is an easy choice.

28. Dallas Cowboys - Jaycee Horn CB South Carolina - a trade with New Orleans who is cap strapped and want to move down so Dallas gives up #44 and #79 to move back up into the 1st when Horn is still available.

43. Dallas Cowboys - Joseph Ossai DE Texas - with Ossai still available Dallas has him as BPA and takes what could become an All Pro DE soon Can also be a LB or the Leo in situation.

75. Dallas Cowboys -Alem McNeil DT North Carolina - should be an excellent DT moving forward and fit into rotation now

100. Dallas Cowboys -Jabril Cox LB LSU - probably falls due to opt out in 2020 but could be the steal of the draft.

116. Dallas Cowboys -Walker LIttle OT Stanford - another opt out guy that many teams see as maybe a LT or just a guy.

135. Dallas Cowboys -Tomorrion Terry WR Florida St. - potentially a great WR although seems to have a bit of problem with authority

139. Marvin Wilson DT Florida St. - a one time 1st round guy that had a real bad year, maybe Dallas can get him back.

179. Dallas Cowboys -Richie Grant S UCF - some boards have him in round 2, small school, strange draft year, see him late

192. Dallas Cowboys -Sam Ehlinger QB Texas - good runner, average passer should be available in the 6th

227. Dallas Cowboys -Elerson Smith DE Northern Iowa - lots of potential upside, small school dominated but Pros will be yet to see
.
238. Dallas Cowboys -Camryn Bynum CB California - been anywhere from 2nd round to undrafted but if there in 7th worth the pick.

How can Slayer be the best lineman but the second best LT?

this would be a great draft if it happens....

Pitts will start year one and Horn, Ossai, Cox, and Little will be starters within two years.

Um, seems like a lot of moving pieces, but if it happened it would be a good haul. But TBH, I want no parts of Marvin Wilson. Also Richie Grant at 179 is a pipe dream.

No shot Mac Jones goes at 4 and Fields falls to 10...especially if Houston is going to trade Watson.

A) Houston will just take Fields or B) that's the spot someone will trade to in order to get Fields, because they assume Houston would take him.
