Go figure: Unretired again and John Daly is playing good golf with Tony Romo

Last we saw John Daly, he was distraught and disgusted and just "done" with this whole golf thing.

At least that's what he told the producers for his upcoming reality show, "Being John Daly," which debuts March 2 on, what's that, the Golf Channel. He told the producers after finishing a second round of golf at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines two weeks ago. Not coincidentally on that particular Friday, the Golf Channel was also televising the tournament so that seconds after Daly had his post-match, just-missed-the-cut moment of angst, Golf Channel was breathlessly promoting its big scoop of Daly's retirement.

A day later, Daly was unretired and now he's playing at the AT&T Pebble Beach Open and playing quite well. Through 10 holes on the newly redone Monterey Peninsula Country Club course, Daly is two-under par. He and his playing partner, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, have had some modest fun with the fans, but so far Daly seems to be taking this golf thing seriously and the crowds are behind him. "We love you, John," someone yelled as he teed off on the first hole and Daly tipped his cap.

The tournament leaders so far, at seven-under, are J.B. Holmes and K.J. Choi, both at Pebble Beach. Holmes has finished his round. Phil Mickelson, trying to rebound from a disappointing finish last week at Riviera, is at two-under after 16 holes at Monterey Peninsula. Sergio Garcia, playing his first U.S. tournament this week, is also two-under through 11 holes at Monterey.
And the best news of all? No rain. No sun either, but no rain.
