Pick 13 vs. Pick 21 - The Silver Lining

Nobody knows for sure how the next few weeks are going to be unfold, but Dallas' draft range has some volatility. Our strength of schedule is extremely low so we'll be ranked higher than some other teams if we finish with similar records.

I always want Dallas to win and prefer we'd win the division and host a WC game (even if we get trounced). Won't affect Garrett coming back, that cake's nearly baked, but it would cost us draft positioning.

How do you view this - what's more important to you as a fan: a playoff appearance or a higher draft pick(s)?

Always a playoff appearance, especially on a team this talented.

It's not like Dallas couldn't go in and beat two teams in the NFC.

I don't see the point in making the playoffs and getting smoked in the 1st round of the playoffs. I prefer losing out and getting the higher draft pick where you can possibly get a higher rater prospect every round and/ flexibility in trading back or moving up at less of a cost.

Bring in a new coach with some new ideas, and give him a player that can be another core piece to the team.

I just posted in another thread. If we finish 7-9, we still most likely pick at the highest 14th, but could be 18th. Give me the playoffs always, and if we bet bounced, we pick 21st or so.

Many of the teams with worse records than us need to win, and many of these teams play each other with 5-9 and 6-8 records. Also many teams play teams they will most likely lose to.
So we are not going to jump very many teams to get higher that 14 to 16.

After the top 10-15 picks I think draft position matters much less, especially if you aren't in the market for a QB. I'd rather this team finish strong and make the playoffs. Maybe they'll get hot and make a run and if not I think it still means something for the mentality the team will have in the future.
