They can Celebrate all they want. this team still has no pass rush. i love the pick of Jones. he may turn out to be the best CB in this draft. but you guys have got to understand that it does not matter who plays CB if you don't have a pass rush. we have got to get some pass rush help in this draft. i want both picks on the 2nd day to be on the DL.

Huh ?? I'm confused .. I didn't say I was celebrating nor did I mention Byron Jones .. I suggested RG as in Randall Gregory ... I don't know much about Jones and I truly didn't want a CB with the boys first pick .. Not that I wanted Gregory either as he seems like a knucklehead

Tell me about his tape xwalker. I won't lie....haven't seen him too much at all. I know some he shot up boards during the combine which concerns me a little: TIA

He looked really good in game footage. He was easily a top 4 CB just based on the game footage before the combine. The combine just cause the media draft analysts to go back and review him. He was my favorite CB. I'm not going to say he was definitely better than the other 3, but he is the one I preferred. It's hard to find much not to like. He should be able to play the big WRs in the league. He has good size, good arm length and super jumping ability. The fact that he is intelligent and high character put him over the top as a great pick, IMO. He was good at both Safety and CB. He was not super polished, but that's to be expected because of playing different positions.

Of all possible picks that I thought had a realistic chance to be available at 27, he was my favorite. I really liked Gurley, but once they said his knee looked good in the recheck, I didn't think he would get close to 27.

There was a thread about a week ago where me and a couple of others raved about him.

I wanted a football player, not a boyscout.

I sincerely hope Jones proves me wrong, but anyone saying his combine isn't what made him a first rounder is pedaling stolen goods. It's not there on the tape. Not first round ability. Guys don't just mysteriously slip through the cracks until the combine. That's a farce. There is too much media and access. He shows potential, so I won't call the pick a bust right now, but don't be surprised when he is splitting nickle duty next season.

I really thought they should have attempted a trade up for Dupree when he fell so far. From what I saw in the war room, they were already locked in on a consolation prize.

You and I normally see eye to eye damn near 100% of the time. This is a very rare exception and I think completely opposite of you. Listening to Norm and his gang on The Ticket then Broddus review this pick they both would disagree with your view. Not saying you are wrong but from what I've read and heard in multiple places this was another home run from the Cowboy brass.

I made it clear how I stand on Jones. Not your Physical CB that can take on stronger WR. Really doesn't tackle well I mean at all and no one can can say otherwise. He will show his value when he competes for jump balls especially close to the red zone. I really don't know if he'll be your #1 CB but I hope he proves me wrong. I'll root for him and hope he does pan out more than what he has shown on his tape. Go Cowboys.

I know my opinion isn't the popular one. I am ok with that. I will absolutely eat crow if I am wrong. However, after all the hubbub around here after people saw his combine numbers, I really dove into it. He's just not a special player, as far as on the field ability goes. Several people hit on it, including the guys on the DC.com show, he has a million dollar personality. I think people saw the combine numbers and then interviewed and he blew their socks off. He is a charismatic, likable kid with potential.

I've said it plenty of times. He has some of the tools athletically, obviously, so he could be a good player. He just doesn't have "it"--that indescribable feel and awareness a top notch corner has to possess. He's not singularly dominate in man, press or zone. He's not a ball hawk. His break isn't exceptional. He doesn't have the great lateral quickness to play the nickle or the hands and punch and balance to get a great jam... What I mean to say is, he doesn't do anything at a high level right now other than run and jump in spandex.

Im sure I will get nuked around here for the next few days, but I just feel like he's charming people and they're projecting ability that isn't there based on measurable all the while saying, "and I am not just talking about his combine numbers." Not a single person has pulled tape and broken down a single facet of the game where Jones is advanced and put it out there. It's all hearsay and everyone says, "there's not much tape but..."

He's a Cowboy now. I'm in his corner. I have very low expectations this year though.

Won't be by me. You give a good argument and could be right and are certainly entitled to your opinion.

I appreciate it. I just know I don't have the clout some of the other draft experts have. I'm always open to rebuttals. Just havent seen a good one in Jones' case other than people claiming they liked him before the combine.

I think the Cowboys can still find tremendous value in the next few rounds though. They've proven they know how to identify players that fit their schemes in the middle rounds. I look forward to this year's Hitchens!

I'm in the same boat. I want to see how he plays against Dez. I don't see it. I am hoping he is more than his tape because that's what I can only go off of right now and I'm not excited.

I just watched 20 minutes of Highlight tape on this kid.....I saw 8 clips.:omg:

Just watched the E. Carolina game.....Jesus:thumbdown:

Plays way too high....But, to his credit......he's got quick feet

But in every clip...he was out of position or just plain beat. I hope we think we can turn him into a FS....because I just don't a see a true CB.

Bryan Broaddus...report

Can be physical in the press but just as comfortable playing in off coverage. Rangy build with rare athletic traits. Moves well to get in position. Nice power to hold up receiver. Can mirror the receiver. Can high point the ball. Can pedal, turn and go -- smoothness. Not much wasted motion. Plays with his knees bent. There are snaps where he slips, which makes me question his balance. He’s quick to read the route out of his pedal. Quick to get his head around. Will run across the field in position. Good tackler. Is aware in zone. Plays his assignment. Plays square. Will drop in zone and keep eyes on ball. Knows where he needs to fit. Times where he will play sideways in zone. Nice lateral quickness and agility. Very good range. Can cover some ground. Very reactionary athlete. Is a hard player to get away from. Doesn’t allow the quarterback windows to throw the ball into. Could be the second corner on many draft broads because of his ability. Would be an outstanding option for the Cowboys to select in the first round. – Bryan Broaddus

I can now see why he is an ex scout....that is an atrocious report

There are no draft experts here.

That's a misnomer. I spend a lot of time on the draft every year and I'm still very capable of horrendous evaluations and so is everyone else.

Trust me, I'm aware of that. I was alluding more to the attitudes of some members.
