you got 2016 and 2014 mixed up to some extent. 2014 was the Dez catch/no catch

That's a nice post.

Further supports what I have been saying about playing keep away on offense, and how much that helps the defense.

That 2016 defense wasnt any good at all, and as you point out, this one is better....but the more they are on the sidelines the better the teams record is going to be.

Barring injury, the 2020 Cowboys offense should have NO EXCUSES whatsoever for any struggles. It's nearly impossible to field a more talented team than what the Cowboys currently have on that side of the ball.

And other than maybe one corner or safety, there aren't too many excuses left for the defensive side either.

Good 'problems' to have.

Agree, I think the plan is to stop the run while the offense piles up points. Then when other teams are forced to pass they will line up all the pass rushers like DLaw, Griffin, Aldon Smith, Gregory, Anae, McCoy, Gallimore, etc.

BTW, in the universe where I know how to read a calendar the starting DL for the Dez Catch game was Jeremy Mincey, George Selvie, Nick Hayden and Ken Bishop. Only one of those guys was a full time starter the following year (Hayden, who was out of the league the year after that).

All you can ask for is to have a chance and this team, on paper, definitely does.

Congrats btw on getting your guy finally. I'm gonna just make the personal choice to think you had something to do with it on some level lol. I'm a Clowney fan but I'll take this quite graciously and no way Clowney was playing for that number.

At this point all they need is to look at the tape, stack good days on top of good days, execute.....whoops wait sorry. I don't know where those words came from!!

The play of the main backup DL IMO is key compared to years past. Crawford and Woods as 15-20 snap backups will be a strength. Hopefully Galimore in 10-15 snaps can mirror what Collins gave us his rookie season. And obviously the biggest wildcards are Smith and Gregory. But even if you get NOTHING from those two, it won't matter much assuming the 4 starters are healthy. You also have Anae and presumably Armstrong to fill out the depth chart if needed.

So to your point, the quality depth of the 2020 DL should be noticeable unlike years past.

So, I assume your point that this year's backups might be better than the 2016 starters? lol

Its crazy how much better this starting four is over that 2016 or 2014 group. That was my point, our backups are probably better than the old starters were.
Agree completely, but IMO they're best bet is to control the time of possession and keep those bodies fresh.

They have the horses up front to do it, but the passing game is more sexy and that worries me.

Theres no way anyone can stack the box against this offense, so running shouldnt be an issue at all. I hope they stay with that direction.

I don't. Let the offense open up and score points, this defense should be able to get turnovers. Don't want the conservative Garrett era of football and keep it within 1 possession. Too many times we didn't win cause the opponent just needed 3-7 points to win. Teams get down by double scores they get in pass mode and that plays right into these DL best trait

This isn't the 1970s. Guys will be rotating all game regardless of who starts.
