Pickens is a nice problem

The real problem with Pickens is that if you dont commit and he walks, you have nothing to show for a 3rd round pick. Add to that you are back to square one at WR. Worse yet, Tolbert is also a free agent after the season

To be a good trade, Pickens needs to be extended. Even if he walks and you get a 3rd round comp pick, its practically a 4th rounder and could be outside the top 100. You also dont get it until 2027
I'm pretty sure if he plays at a high level enough to warrant a third round pick he's not walking at least not in 2026
They'll tag him if they can't reach an agreement. Remember the warrant the third round pick that would mean he would have to play almost at in all pro level

I find the "fan boy" content boring. Just a lot of repetitive rhetoric and not much else
It's amazing to me that these guys spend so much time making and editing these vids just to get content out. I guess it's worth their while somehow, I just wonder how so many people watch them. I mean, where does this end? I like Mafah, too, but are we going to get hours of "breakdowns" on his first step out of his stance, or one particular rep at OTAs, or what he had for breakfast?

If Pickens is a problem he better produce. Anything under 900 yards this season isn’t likely going to be good enough to earn a new contract.

Pickens being extended after the 2025 season will be based on his production and behavior. The more problems the more he’ll have to produce. The problems could outweigh his production and the Cowboys move on anyway. TO had 1052 yards in 08 with 10 TDs and the Cowboys moved on. This being a contract year for Pickens he’s going to want the ball. We’ll see how it goes if he’s not getting the targets or production he wants.

They definitely did out weigh them in Pittsburg.

Hopefully it was a wake up call to the young man.

I'm on record as liking the aquisition and I'm fully aware that his penalties will skyrocket because hes no longer a Steeler, but my only concern is affording him when contract time comes.

I know Roseman could make it work, but Jones plays checkers when it comes to cap management.

A 1 year rental is fine when a team is a contender but.....
But how do you know how far away you are at this point in the season?

To me it’s a no risk….. you let him walk you get a third round comp and you can find his replacement in next years draft. This is what win now looks like. We can’t worry about future compensation. I think that’s where this team goes bad is worrying about future picks when the time is now.

Very good problems for the offense. No excuse for anyone not performing. There is talent all over the field. Love Machota's comment on the Cowboys going 4 wide. The addition of Pickens really changes the offense.
The problem is everyone has talent. The Cowboys are going to be better at other things to have an edge. That’s coaching, quarterback and the trenches.

It’s concerning that Tomlin who’s a real disciplinarian had enough. Pickens has been putting on a smile and saying all the right things ever since the trade trying to rid himself of his reputation. We’ll see how long it lasts. If the team struggles his old ways may crop up again.

But that would be contingent on Dak throwing the ball to him, no ball, no more than 900 yards.

Either way, our organization would be smart to not discuss it and keep it internal.

If he ends up walking we need the highest comp pick we can get.

You let him walk and you are forced to draft his replacement very high. Not a position you want to be in. On top of that the comp pick is very late in the 3rd, and thats if he signs for top 5 money. Its more likely you get a 4th. And then you dont get it until 2027. Letting him walk would be a disaster

Jerry had to do something to sell tickets. Pickens was the answer.
Tickets are already sold. It’s about keeping fan interest and not having a second consecutive losing season.

He will do what needs to be done to keep his head above water, but not to get over the hump when the time comes.

These people aren’t stupid. The plan is to never have a down cycle that you can’t blame on injury, and hope to get lucky in the postseason. If not, at least it was sellable along the way. Meanwhile they compete against folks who are truly trying to win, understand that a down cycle is inevitable, and whose jobs depend on delivering…and are much better at it.

Remember when it was about football? That was fun.

Oh BDC, thinking they've run out of excuses....Early money is on Jake Ferguson being the scapegoat this year because we don't have a top 3 TE. Book it.

I just think its poor team building. Especially considering what little we have in the pipeline. I hope we exit camp with extentions for Parsons, Pickens and Bland
What do you consider the worst mistake on team build model for this season?
Just asking because I respect your opinion.

Why can't you just acknowledge that it is a very good problem to have?

I love to burst the bubble, because.
Tickets were all ready sold before the trade.
Tickets may have been sold, only to be resold to visiting fanbases. Pickens fills the seats with cowboys fans for the first part of the season until fans remember who plays QB and DL.
