Pickens won't say if he will be at minicamp

That doesn’t make any sense. If he doesn’t give it his all, the cowboys and the rest of the league will notice. And cost himself a lot of money in the future.
Pickens has shown what he’s capable of. All 32 teams understand what can happen if a player is disgruntled. Every team has had one (or more) at one time or another. Suggesting teams won’t understand why Pickens’ effort lacks some zeal is nonsense. They’ll all know exactly why.

He probably thinks the Cowboys are costing him money right now. Expecting him to be happy about it is a bit much.

Pickens should have been shipped off on day #2 of the draft for a pick to replace him with. Whether or not he is to blame, Pickens is focused on a contract and not the upcoming season.

It's not a Super Bowl year that occupies his mind.

I wish that contracts were not a subject of discussion for fans but the reality is that salary caps and free agency has made it so.

I would normally agree but not in Pickens case. He started this with his antics in PIT. I’m not saying he deserves his reputation or not but that is the reality.

It’s also “reality” that he wants a multi-year extension. It’s also reality that wide receivers are getting larger and larger contracts. Thank you Seattle and Atlanta. Nacua and Olave won’t come cheap. By the time Pickens “proves himself” to the Cowboys some more $40 million AAV will be a bargain.

He isn’t going to respect the Cowboys organization any more than the Cowboys respect him. Treat him like chattel and he’ll be compelled to escape. No different than any other player in the NFL.

No one else seemed to want him. So how can he only blame the Cowboys?

Because they’re the team that franchised tagged him after a great year. It seems as if they want to keep him for as little compensation as possible. It’s why players, when the circumstances present themselves (shoe is on the other foot), want as much compensation as possible. And fans pretend to not understand why. Like now.

My original point got hijacked somehow. If he doesn’t give it his all, he only hurts himself. He can be upset, he can make the business decision and not go all out so he has less chance of getting hurt. Again, how does that help him in the future? If he’s honest with himself, he’ll realize he put himself in this situation. The cowboys and the league apparently want to see more from him before making a big commitment. Again, he did this to himself and I don’t think other teams are going to be sympathetic to him if he doesn’t give it his all and behave. If other teams trusted him, he’d be on another team by now.

That is what he does, favors the greedy players over the team. Makes me wonder if he truly is an Eagles/Giants/Commanders fan masquerading as a Cowboys fan? I'm sure he knows there is a salary cap in effect, and we can only afford to pay so many players very top dollar contracts. I want to keep GP, but he's got to take just a little less. If he demands as much or more than CeeDee, George Pickens won't be around here much longer after this tagged season.
And you favor an incompetent, idiot billionaire over the team.

Makes me wonder if you’re an Eagles/Giants/Commanders fan

See how that works?

He’ll be with the team when he’s required to be. He’ll make more than a sufficient effort to indicate he’s a valuable asset. The scenario he’s in, through no fault of his own except he agreed to play in the NFL, forces it to seem like everything he does this season is in his own best interests. You’re making that argument. And it’s true. Wouldn’t it be better if the Cowboys showed he is a valuable asset? That he is a necessary piece to getting to a Super Bowl? That his efforts are on behalf of the team, not just himself, by signing him to an appropriate deal?

Jerry Jones selected otherwise. He’s the owner and GM. His record speaks for itself. The same will go for George Pickens. We all wish them both the best in their respective endeavors.

I don’t think he shows, and I’m less optimistic about them getting a deal done. I don’t think he will miss games, but I do think this is the last year in Dallas for him.
