Cowboys lose out on getting Patrick Peterson :)bang2: sorry Hos), so getting calls from 2 teams, the Cowboys trade down to 12th slot, getting an extra 2nd rounder, 43rd from the Vikings and a extra 7th, 215, while the Cowboys give up their 5th rounder, 143rd. The Cowboys also get a call from the Dolphins, with the fins needing a running back, and they trade Barber for a 5th 146th. Cowboys also trade their 40th pick, since they have a 43rd 2nd rounder, down to the Chargers for their 50th and 111th 4th rounder.

Now, so you can get it straight SDogo, Cowboys now have
12th 1st round
43rd 2nd round from vikings
50th 2nd round from chargers
71st 3rd round cowboys
110th 4th round cowboys
111th 4th round from chargers
146th 5th round from dolphins
176th 6th round
215th 7th round from vikings
220th 7th round (from chargers)
251 7th round compensation pick

So, now Cowboys take Tyron Smith OT who will play ROT first year, then move to LOT 2nd year with Doug Free moving to ROT in 2012.
1. Tyron Smith OT Great upside, huge hands, only 20 years old. Reminds me some of Rayfield Wright, when he was moved from TE to ROT. Looks kinda like Rayfield to in film some.

2. (vikings pick) Colin Kaepernick QB Nevada (Jason Garrett loves this player and was noted to mimick his movements at Senior Bowl, Jason gets what he wants).

2. (chargers pick trade down 50th pick) Benjamin Ijalana OT Villanova 6' 3.5" 317 Moved to Guard, can play OT too.

3. 71st pick cowboys Kendrick Ellis DT Hampton 6' 4.7" 346 Ellis can play DE in some situations or spell Brent at NT, allowing Jay Ratliff to rest or move to DE.

4. 110th pick Mark Herzlich OLB Boston College 6' 4" 244 this is a throwback MLB, mean and tough, just getting his strength back, duely noted that Rob Ryan loved his intensity.

4. 111th pick Shiloh Keo S Idaho 5' 11.2" 219 Great hips and speed.

5. 146th pick; Owen Marecic FB Stanford 6' 0.4" 248 or Henry Hynoski* FB Pittsburgh 6' 0.3" 257 Note, if we can get either one, I would be extremely happy. Sorry, to see you go Gronk.

6. 176th pick: Cecil Shorts III WR Mount Union College 5' 11.6" 205 Noted 4.37 to 4.43 speed. could be a steal for the inside slot at WR.

7. 215th pick:Zach Hurd OG Connecticut 6' 6.6" 316 Will be moved to OG, can play ROT too.

7. 220th pick: Buster Skrine CB Tennessee-Chattanooga 5' 9.4" 186 Superior speed, 4.38 or so.

7. 251th pick: KEITH DARBUT (6041, 229) when he benched 26 reps, ran a 4.38 40-yard dash, 1.42 10-yard, 38-inch vertical, 10'6 broad jump, 4.45 short shuttle, and 7.28 3-cone. He was a first-team All-OAC selection and named defensive lineman of the year in the OAC in 2010. His 43 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and 40-yard touchdown reception show he makes plays in plenty of different ways.

Because he is very lean and fast he likely won't play end in the NFL but his athleticism should allow him to convert to rush outside linebacker.

or Blaine Sumner, NT, Colorado School of Mines, 6'2", 335- 52 reps of 225 on the bench and a 33 inch vertical leap.

:D If we do take him, then I get to say I tried to tell you so. Sdogo I think said that Jason Garrett was said to love this kid and mimicking his movements etc... And since Jason is head coach, gets what he wants. :D

Con't like the Kapernick pick as we already have qb's. Also I am assuming that a new CBA is in place before the draft because I thought you could not trade players this year unless there is a CBA. I could be wrong though. Like the the rest of the draft especially Smith.

Totally understand, I am going moreso on what SDogo said Jason Garrett was doing when watching Kapernick at senior bowl practices. Yes, your right you cant trade players, but I am assuming by time the woman judge has the hearing on April 6th, she will tell players and owners, you had better get this solved, because if I get involved, your both going to wish you had worked something out instead. She could like tell owners, ok you have to open up your books, and players you have to play 18 games, with the proceeds going to the owners for the 2 other games. Make it tough on both sides, where neither really wins, and make them wish they hadnt been so greedy from both sides, players and owners, as well as instigator De Smith.

She tells both sides, you have one week to get this settled or else I will. Or whatever she can do to get both to work out a deal.

Yeah, its one of my dream drafts, i wanted to get the DE Cameron Heyward in there some way instead of the QB, but I just get a suspicion that Jason Garrett likes Kapernick and is going to try to manuveer to get him.

I would not try to sell that to anyone or at least dont convince yourself of it.

I'm not saying it's going to happen but I will tell you the odds are a WHOLE lot better then you may think.

Although, if the Cowboys do pick Kaepernick, I work with a guy who knows him very well. His daughter is extremely good friends with him and is always at their house when he comes home and visits his parents. He said he is just one great down home guy who just loves playing football. He knows that I am Cowboys fan and maybe he can get me tickets to some games. I know wishful thinking on my part.

Yep, I posted an article about that way back, about Kapernick's family, how family oriented he is and a hard worker. Cares about the fans, along with his awesome talent. Now on the negative side, has an award slow developing windup that Jason Garrett will have to change, but can be done and learning the pro passing game.

Again, this kid, when you watch him on tape, reminds me of a former Cowboys QB, im not going to say which QB, let you all figure that out, but he has talent like that. Not, as elusive as this QB was, but still can run to daylight and has superior speed to run too, with a cannon of an arm to throw the ball. :starspin

Aside from the QB in the 2nd, I like this draft. This is the only scenario that would make any sense if the Cowboys use their first pick on an OT. There are no OTs worth a top 10 pick this draft. None.

And I am a Carimi fan.

Lots of trades...which I think will happen.

But do you really think Minny would want to give up a 2nd round pick to move up three spots? If so, who would they want so much to make that big of a sacrifice?

I've seen folks make mocks that have us giving up only a third to move from 9 to 6.

If this is a dream scenario, then I'm right there with ya....I would love for this to happen.

First, yes its a dream scenario. I think this, if Cam Newton or QB from Missouri fall, teams will scramble to get them. Next, you have to remember, teams have already called Cowboys Jerry Jones said to trade up. So, if you can get 2 teams competing against each other, then you can get more value, besides vikes dont have a 3rd rounder this year. Then, you might get say the Lions that want one of the top rated WR's in that bidding war too.

Minny needs a QB championship typer QB bad. They know it and so does everyone else. If Minny, or say Dolphins get in a bidding war for that QB that falls you could see that happen. That defensive coordinator that took over the Vikes job, knows he has to win, only way to do that is get a championship QB, one of those would give that new head coach life for 2 to 3 years with a young QB.

I do think there will be some trades, alot if you cant trade players, you might see teams jockying back and forth to get draft picks to acquire more players, just in case you cant sign free agents or draft picks after draft is over. Then, only way to do that is get more draft picks, you might see Cowboys trading down some, not as much as they did in 2009, but some like that.

Depends all what you can get, for trading down, say Cowboys can get a 2nd or 3rd, with a 5th to 7th for trading down 9th pick, and then cowboys can get another say 3rd with a 5th for trading down in 2nd round, you might see that too.
