Zorn has coached many pro bowl QB's in the past, and he has used these techniques to train them. Just a little blurb about this in the past.

Quarterbacks fired dodgeballs at Hasselbeck in one of Jim Zorn's creatively wacky agility drills.

"I think he thinks them up on his bike rides from Mercer Island over to work," Hasselbeck said. "He comes up with some good drills. Only the best ones make the cut, and right now he's using the conservative ones."

One year, Zorn once brought his quarterbacks along on a bike ride. "That ended with a couple of us puking our brains out," Hasselbeck said. "And that was the day before camp. That was tough, and the last time I tried that."

This drill helps QB's learn to keep focus and to keep their head downfield when the rush is on instead of focusing primarily on the rush.

That is the single gehyist thing I've ever seen on a football field.

Can you see Brett Favre going to the skins and Zorn telling him "We are going to throw pads at you to help you concentrate."

Oh I would pay BIG money to see that one.

:lmao:

Somehow, I rather doubt that these techniques had anything to do with those QBs making the Pro Bowl... :D

At the same time, it would appear that Campbell really can use this drill, since he missed the wide-open receiver on the second attempt... LOL...

You want a distraction drill, get art's big ugly mug out there. Now that will test anyone's focus.

They actually considered that, but they were worried it would make Cooley horny...

Dude let me run something down to Zorn has been a QB coach for the last 10 years. 10 years man with out any type of promotion or extra duties. Do you get were I am going with this. Now during the same time i went from

1. Warehouse clerk
2. Junior Buyer
3. Buyer
4. Buyer III
5. Senior Buyer
6. Purchasing Manager
7. Subcontract Administrator
8. Contracts Administrator
9. Contracts Manager.

All this is said to say to you, no one but Synder saw any potential in Zorn that warrented a promotion of any sort. I am not saying he will be a failure, but the track record speaks for hitself. :laugh2:

When someone can even make charlie Batch look good ( Batch's 88.3 passer rating ranks as the fourth-highest rookie mark in NFL history.), then I would have to imagine that they are doing something right.

Not to mention, Haselback has praised Zorn's out of the box drills in the past. But your right, im sure Jim had nothing to do with Hasselbacks success. In Zorns first year as QB coach in seattle, he helped develop Hassellback into a pro type QB. He led the NFC in pass completlion, and was 3rd in the NFC in QB rating. This helped lead the seahawks to the third best passing attack in the NFL that year.

As for coaches going straight from QB coach to head coach, Andy Reid can tell you about it. Also coming from the Mike Holmgren coaching tree, Reid went straight from being a QB coach to coaching the eagles. Since being in philly, he has gained coach of the year twice, has a .608 winning percentage, has won 5 division titles and has reached the NFC championship game 4 times. In a nice year tenure, i'd say thats pretty good.

And of course, good quarterbacks coaches ALWAYS make good head coaches...

Even those that skip right on past the offensive coordinator part of the on-the-job training...

Let's put it bluntly-- being a quarterbacks coach, even if you happen to be a good quarterbacks coach, does NOT mean that you're ready to be a head coach...

Chuckle... Jim Zorn is no Andy Reid, son...

Batch and Hasslebeck both benefited greatly by his tutelage, did they not?

Does it mean they are automatically going to be poor? Clearly not.

And how do you know? He might be, no one knows yet. It's still very much wait and see.

I think the Commanders would be hoping for that.

Andy seems like Parcells in that he cannot adjust to different game plans.

If what he is doing is not working ..... tough he will not change.

If I was Commander fan, :puke:, I would be hoping Zorn turns out a heck of a lot better than Andy.

No matter what T.O. says. ;)
