Anyone think this formation will carry over to the NFL?

I don't see why it wouldn't and it gives you a better run option.

I remember the Chiefs running it with some degree of success with Tyler Thigpen at the helm.

I'm not a big X's and O's person but I like reading up on explanations. Why is this formation a better run option than just a shotgun with the HB to the side of the QB?

Just that you can run either direction. But in college you mainly do that so the QB can option keep at times. Which wouldn't happen in the pros.

Zero chance it would work without a QB like Vick. The QB has to be a dangerous runner or it isn't so much of a threat.

Any formation that has a player lined up like 10 yards behind the LOS seems like it's destined to fail.

Shotguns are allowed in every state, but pistols aren't allowed in liberal states - so they can't run it? :)

What formation is that? Not the pistol.

It might dominate the future. For real.

It features a lot of the advantages of a shotgun AND the qb under center...since it's a hybrid.

Where does the RB stand in the pistol foation?

Behind the QB. Am I missing something in the question ? The RB is around 6-7 yards deep.

You aren't missing anything. Hoofbite was just talking out of his butt. He doesn't know the offense at all.

Even if it makes the nfl...it will be like the wildcat and bur n out. who cares.

...in the option play what happened to Vick is more the norm than the exception. You won't have your starting QB for long with a play like the pistol.

Brett favre used to run it with the packers. Short shotgun with the Rb right behind him, I thought it a strange formation at the time.

My bad. 7 yards deep.

The pistol is a joke. That's why it isn't used.

Of course, your EA team probably dominates with it.

You didn't even know what the pistol was, dude. Now you say it isn't used. You don't what you are talking about.

FYI...I've never played EA in my life.
