Pistons/Cavs

if i was a spurs fan, i would be getting a little bit nervous if the lebrons make it to the finals

The scary thing about a guy like LeBron, when he's hot, he's very hard to stop.

Take it from a Mavs fan. :(

I'd still rather face them than the Pistons.

My fear with Detroit is that they're going to snap out of this funk they're in and start playing well... and if they start playing well, they're a tough matchup. If they play like they've been playing recently, then I think the Spurs win it in a rout -- 4 or 5 games -- but if they start playing with some fire, then they have a lot more talent and depth than the Cavs.

James is awesome, but I think with the lack of talent he has around him, a good coach and a good team can game-plan around him.

Not that it really matters, but didn't Cleveland sweep the season series this year?

You're right... it doesn't matter. :D

(but then again, I think I've proven how much I know about basketball) ;)

edit:

The game in San Antonio was the second game of the season, and the game in Cleveland was on January 2, so I'll stick with "it doesn't matter." :D

Another consideration - these are two completely different teams that turned it on in the second half of the season. If it happens, it should be a good series.

Or at least, as a detached fan I hope it'll be a good series. The Mavs disappointment considering, and I know a lot of Spurs fans on this site are happy, but overall this has been a boring postseason.

Especially after last year, which had lots of drama.

James gave a great performance that gave me visions of MJ. I don't think the Spurs' Bowen will be able to handle James.

That brings up a good point - who covers James? Bowen is getting slower, and is not nearly big enough. Duncan maybe, but still James has the speed advantage. As DW suggested, they'll put several guys on him and hope no one else can make their shots.

They'll put Bowen on him on the perimiter, and he'll do a decent enough job out there. If he's making shots like he was last night, no one can guard him... but Bowen will make him work for his. Remember, Bowen was brought to the Spurs to be one of the original "Kobe-stoppers" so he's used to guarding a guy like LeBron.

And if he drives, Duncan, et al, will pick him up best they can.

One thing I noticed watching the Cavs is that they don't set very solid picks. Compared to the picks the Suns and Jazz run, the Cavs (esp Varejao) picks seem much easier to fight through. I think that will help Bowen keep up with LeBron and limit bad mis-matches.

Game six starts in 30 minutes - who wins? Does LeBron lead them to the NBA Finals for the first time and close it out tonight, or do the Pistons push this series to a pivotal game seven at The Palace?

My gut tells me to stick with Detroit to win this one, but I'm pulling for the Cavs to end this series tonight.

After getting burned three games in a row, Detroit finally adjusts and is consciously double-teaming LeBron.

It's still close.

I forgot he was a Longhorn.

Since I made my last post he made like two more 3 pointers. Good grief.

And it's over!

LBJ in the Finals.

The King vs. The Dynasty.

The Mentor coach vs. The Protege (okay, a stretch - Pops is much better).
