I feel like I accomplished something then.

Regarding Dorin Dickerson, I think Dallas sees him in the slot a little bit too. His speed is top notch. He is really good in the red zone on short yardage. I will not be shocked if we take McCluster in the 2nd round and Dickerson. This Draft is going to more about the Offense.

Last year Free Agency was the Defense. The Draft was Special Teams and Defense. I think this Draft is Offense heavy.

Antrel Rolle do it for you?

he is totally too slow for me, will get abused big time in the pros in passing game;
Myron Rolle Florida State 6017 215 32 1/2 9 1/8 21 4.73 4.68

bingo now that draft thought i totally agree with, we are going mostly offense with a few defenders like a safety and defensive end but rest of way offense

For future reference, Myron Rolle and Antrel Rolle are not the same guy. They are not twins. They are not brothers. I doubt they are even related.

Read things more carefully. You won't make silly mistakes like that.

I'm getting more confident that Iupati won't be on the board when Dallas picks at #27. I could see us trading out of the pick if Iupati, Earl Thomas, and the 1st wave of tackles are gone. The 2nd round has such great value in this draft that there's not a giant discrepancy between the late 1st and early to mid 2nd round.

I'm okay with the Spikes pick because Jason Williams is an unknown, Carpenter won't be back in 2011 and Brooking may just have one year left.

Don't like the Dorin Dickerson pick because our offense already has problems spreading the ball around and this would just make things worse. I understand the replacement with Cricket, but if we're primarily going to use him for blocking, than we have Phillips and Bennett for that.

I don't think Jason Fox will be there in the 4th. There's such a premium on tackles and this class is very deep. I think he goes in the mid 3rd round.

I'm cool with the other picks but I'm assuming if we don't draft a safety than we picked up someone in free agency like Ryan Clark or Antrel Rolle.

i still think carpenter will be here this year;
and just maybe now that wr golden tate had a good combine, he goes in top 20, but the key for us will be how tebow does and if the owner of jasksonviille says and does what he said by drafting tebow. Could be even that jacksonville makes a trade with us to move back up in top of late first round to get tebow.

if upati or earl thomas is there or maybe bruce campbell or trent williams, i would not trade down, i would take one of those players, unless you had a real good offer to move down 2 to 3 spots.

But if upati or e thomas, campbell and trent williams are gone, i would trade down.

Another key for us is kyle wilson and nt cody, they both may go in first round too, some team may make a jump on them, cody did loose about 20 pounds and could lose some more weight by his pro day.

If this all happens the way i think it will, we should get a very good player in first round, you just dont pass up those kind of players.

My bad, i thought you said myron rolle, my bifofocals got in the way again. I do agree with you, that if antrel rolle doesnt sign right away with any other nfl team, that jerry jones will sign him to a contract. I think ken hamlin is one of those players that jerry jones was talking about changing on roster spots and money wise. I agree with that thought.

The Commanders better watch their eyeballs if Spikes is a Cowboy, lol.

That was one of the dirtiest thing I've ever seen.

That Georgia guy should have kicked his butt.

Regarding Dickerson, we were interested in James Casey last year, a player really without a true position, that play a few in college.

BTW Hos, a more realistic choice late in the 2nd would be TCU ILB Daryl Washington.

he didnt say he wouldnt, he said he wont be back in 2011;)

Hos - would like to see your opinions on players we have on our roster that could be moved via any possible day 1 trades in the draft for positioning?

That's what I'm thinking, too... sure do hope you're right...

I'd be happy with McCluster and Dickerson... Dex would give us a threat in the return game, Dorin would pose matchup nightmares for opposing defensive coordinators...

I just wonder if he can be a force as a blocker, if he sees action at fullback... I want me another Moose leading the back into the hole...

Like your mock a lot, though I honestly think the Boys might not draft a linebacker at all... I was gonna start a thread about this, but let me explain my reasoning-- at this point, the Boys have 13 linebackers under contract, and none of them are free agents, either restricted or unrestricted... I doubt they'll carry even that many into training camp...

Let's look at these 13:

Keith Brooking, ILB... is an aging vet, but will be a vital part of the defense this year (barring injury, of course)... he's not going anywhere...

Victor Butler, OLB-- showed well in the chances he got to play, I think the Boys want to see more of him... he's not going anywhere...

Bobby Carpenter, ILB-- a favorite whipping boy of this forum, he'll never live up to his first round draft status, but he played well in the limited role he was given last season... he's not going anywhere...

Stephen Hodge, ILB-- he's a bit of a question mark, only because some players never make it all the way back from the microfracture surgery he had... if he's healthy, he'll be in camp, but if he's not fully rehabbed, he might not be...

Bradie James, ILB-- might be getting some age on him too, but he'll be a starter... he's not going anywhere...

Curtis Johnson, OLB-- didn't see much action after the Boys acquired him late in preseason, but I think the Boys think he has some pass rush potential, and they like his speed... he might be on the bubble, but I feel confident he'll at least make it into camp...

Steve Octavien, OLB-- he'll definitely be on the bubble, but again, I expect him to be in camp...

Anthony Spencer, ILB-- a starter, he's not going anywhere...

DeMarcus Ware, OLB-- do I really need to say it??

Jason Williams, ILB-- didn't see much playing time as a rookie, but his status on the roster is not in jeopardy...

Brandon Williams, OLB-- though he spent all last season on IR, the Cowboys (and Ware) seem to be high on him... I don't see him going anywhere either...

Leon Williams, ILB-- a former 4th round pick who has played 46 games in the NFL, with 12 starts... I feel certain the Boys will want to see what he has in camp...

Donovan Woods, OLB-- if you're looking for a prime candidate to be cut before training camp, here he is... the ultimate bubble player...

So, there's 13 linebacker candidates, with maybe 2 who could be jettisoned before training camp (Woods and Hodge)... that leaves 11, maybe 12 linebackers (if Hodge's rehab has gone well)...

IOW, I don't think there's room for another linebacker on the roster this year... and with only six picks in the draft, I don't believe the Boys will spend one of them on a linebacker... if they bring in another linebacker, IMO it will be an undrafted rookie free agent...

I agree with those who argue that Brooking and James don't have many good years left, but I don't think that situation really needs to be addressed this year... the truth is, the only issue I have with this set of linebackers is the depth at SILB, behind Bradie... most of the other ILBs are more WILB types... the Cowboys' depth chart on their website lists Carpenter and Curtis Johnson as the backups there, but Bobby is more of a cover 'backer, and Curtis should be an OLB, IMO... I think if Bradie were to get hurt, they'd move Brooking over to the strong side, with Leon Williams as the backup... I'm not entirely comfortable with that...

Other than that, though, I like this group of linebackers, and would not be surprised to see the Boys enter training camp with the status quo...

It's highly unlikely that any players will be traded during the draft...

I look forward to your mock's, Silverbear. Any idea when you'll be making one?

Probably around the end of the month, or early April... wanna see a bunch of Pro Day results first...

My overall philosophy for this draft is starting to come into focus...

The only one I think could be is Choice and I really doubt he will be. Maybe Jerry will shock me, but I think he knows he has a very together team who is nearly there for being the best in the NFL. He's going to look to support and improve them, not disassemble them. Jerry doesn't care if the fans and media don't like a player. He cares that the staff and team do, and right now there is not anyone on this team that isn't focused and devoted to each other.

i love to hear this kind of stuff from someone who has some inside info like you hos. very encouraging.

there has to be a balance though, you may like what you have but you have to be looking to upgrade constantly. i like the fact that we seem to have developed this philosophy.
