I think this is a great time to avoid posts about how this affects the Cowboys chances this year. Absolutely inappropriate. None of us should be so callous about the death of another human being.

I say this, mainly because my first thoughts were along those lines, and I'm as guilty as anyone. It's just wrong.

This is absolutely terrible news. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Just terrible.

Both Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles fans have been in the news recently by starting Go Fund Me pages for banners to be flown over each team’s camp this offseason.

This morning at Eagles’ camp, a banner that read “WE STILL DEM BOYZ!” flew over fans. Cowboys DE Greg Hardy chipped in $300 of his own money to help the cause.

According to NBC Los Angeles, a plane that was supposed to tow a banner crashed this afternoon killing the pilot. Another person was reportedly injured. NBC’s Jonathan Lloyd and Joe Studley were told by the Federal Aviation Administration that, “the pilot had just picked up a banner at the airport before the fatal crash.”

Not that anyone here has any logical reason to, but if you feel compelled, this is a ******** page to give donations to the pilots family.

I hope no one tries to blame the fans who hired him. No one could have know this would happen, and no one would have gone through with it had that knowledge been available. Sad for the pilot, sad for his family, and sad for the fans who chipped in to make this happen because I can only imagine the guilt they must be feeling.

I live in Ocean City MD and those banner planes fly all day, all summer. We had one go down near the airfield a few years ago, but they are generally pretty safe considering the number of flights they take.

That is sad story and I really thought it was some kind of joke until I saw the news report. The idea it happened because of a football rivalry is just a weird twist. It could have just as easily been a beer ad or an engagement proposal.

Now seeing it may not have been the pilot to fly the Eagles banner that crashed. Some reports stating that bystanders saying pilot was attempting to latch onto a beer company banner

Obligatory apologies to the pilot and his family.
Stinks. Not something most people would die for, although I bet there are a few who would...

@AsthmaField - I chuckled handily. Levity prolongs life to the living and that is what we are. For the present...

Tragic. Irrelevant that it was a philly banner. Could've just as easily been a different banner. Accidents happen. Shouldn't look to blame anyone.
