The more I look at this draft, and who likely will and won't be available, the more I'm coming to expect the Cowboys will trade down from pick #19.

If Vita Vea is somehow there, I think the Cowboys would draft him, but I put the odds of that happening at about 20%. I don't think Washington passes him up at pick #13.

And if he's gone, I think they will have a group of players with similar grades when their pick comes up and they'll feel confident in moving down a few spots, picking up an additional third rounder in the process.

A third rounder that they would have no issue sending to Seattle for Earl Thomas. You would essentially then be getting him for "free" as in what it would cost to sign him as a "free agent".

I don't think that a potential trade would force their draft strategy in any way - and it certainly shouldn't - but again, if there is a cluster of talent they like on the board (which I expect) I think that a trade down is a distinct possibility.

Think Travis Frederick.

That would be ideal.

I’d even trade back into the earl 2nd, pick up a third and ship that extra third to Seattle for Thomas.

Looks like a lot of talent between say picks 25 & 100. Making as many picks as possible in that range should be a winning strategy.

The only trade back scenario I see is the Oline that will be available. Lots of OT's to be had.

Could you live with this?

"Splitting the difference" in terms of drafting another offensive lineman in the first round?

For example, trading back an gaining that third round pick and still drafting someone like Daniels, Hernandez, Price, or Wynn? Again, like they did with the Travis Frederick pick.

Could you live with something like that?

Even if Washington passes on Vita Vea, there is a good chance the Chargers grab him, their run defense was pretty bad last year.

Pairing him with Engram and Bosa just makes sense.

If they trade back into the 2nd they better get more than a third. Just moving back 4 or 5 spots is enough points to pick up a 3rd.

I'm all for the trade down.

Day 2 is where it's at in this draft.

Love it..

We bolster the Oline and still get another pick to move up or draft another player? Love it.

I've been supporting this for a couple months now and even teams are leaking out that Day 2 is really the sweet spot in this draft.

I think you might be right although if Vea drops down to the 15 range they might move up to grab him.

I guess. I still think they can get an OG in the 3rd round that can fill in the LG spot.

I think using your best pick on an OL is just panicking.

If the talent lines up with the pick - and the need - I don't call that panicking. I call that a blessing.

Too much guessing here.

Why would we do a razzle dazzle for Thomas?

The guy is coming off an injury.

The guy wants to be overpaid.

Not in Dallas.

Not until Martin gets his deal.

I'll quote myself here since it was obviously missed the first time:

"I don't think that a potential trade would force their draft strategy in any way - and it certainly shouldn't - but again, if there is a cluster of talent they like on the board (which I expect) I think that a trade down is a distinct possibility."

Not until Martin gets his deal.

That's totally irrelevant to anything regarding Earl Thomas.

I have no issue if you're against a deal for Thomas, but trying to use Martin's potential deal as an excuse doesn't work.

Your stealing my stuff again.

Really?

And you expect Martin to sit and watch them pay ET before he gets paid?

You are in Fantasy League for sure.
