Matt Maiocco is reporting on his Twitter page that the 49ers may be interested in signing the recently released Greg Ellis if Ellis drops his asking price. Ellis was released by Dallas earlier this month and will be 34 in August.

Our View: If Ellis doesn't drop his asking price, he may have trouble finding work this season. Several teams have at least mentioned interest in him, but all have said they will not pay what he is asking. We will have a better idea where Ellis will end up as the summer progresses.
