DeMarco Murray passed 3000 yards for his NFL career today. He also did something Emmitt and Tony each only did once in their NFL careers, rushed for 100 or more yards 3 straight games to start an NFL season. Emmitt did it in 1995, Tony in 1981. Tony holds the team record for 423 yards in those 3 games, Emmitt just behind at 418 yards, Murray 3rd at 385. Emmitt actually did it 4 straight games that year. Murray would need 158 yards to pass Emmitt for the most yards gained in 4 games in Cowboys History to start an NFL season. If Murray only gains 15 yards next week he'd still be on pace this season for 1600 yards. Currently he is on pace to break the team record for yards in a season, and he is actually on pace to break 2000 yards on the season. But, those numbers are a long way off on the horizon and too soon to be thinking about in reality.
Tony Romo broke a tie with Jim Hart for career NFL TD passes. He is now tied with Terry Bradshaw at 212 and 29th place all time. Next would be John Brodie in 28th place with 214. Tony also broke a tie with Roger Staubach for most game winning drives in Team History with 23. He now stands alone at 24.
The 21 point deficit Dallas overcame today tied a twice set record in Team History. This game ended in regulation, perhaps making it the greatest comeback in Team History since the other 2 both ended in Overtime. The first was at home in 1984 against the New Orleans Saints. However, the 2nd one will be very hard to match in Cowboys lore. That was the 1999 season opener in Washington with Troy Aikman hitting Rocket Ismail deep to crush Washington's day.
Dan Bailey hit his 28th straight FG, breaking the team record of 27 by Chris Boniol that he had tied earlier today. The NFL record is 14 more away. Obviously 15 more would set a new NFL record. Bailey is 33 points behind Bullet Bob Hayes for 4th place all time in Team History.
Dwayne Harris gained 74 yards on Kickoff Returns today. That puts him only 14 yards behind James Jones for 16th place in Team History. He is only 23 yards behind Robert Lavette for 15th place and 48 yards behind Ron Fellows for 14th place in Team History. Obviously one big return could pass all 3. A big day might even move him past Felix Jones at 13th place, 103 yards ahead.
Last week I shared a stat about Dallas being 4-0 all time in September vs. the Titans/Oilers. One poster called that stat "random and meaningless." My way of telling him to piss off is to share that Dallas is now 6-1 all time against the Rams in September, and 7-1 all time on the calendar date September 21st. Oh, and Jason Garrett is 3-0 against the Rams. Of course I think he can thank Murray for that. Don't you?
