Height: 5-11
fraction_5-8.gif

Weight: 204
40-yard dash: 4.37

-Strengths: Is a highlight maker with outstanding speed and burst. Shows great character and work ethic on and off the field. Runs with good power inside. Is an effective outside runner with the ability to break away from defenders. Is not afraid to lower shoulder deliver a hit. Fights for yards after contact. As a receiver, shows good hands to make tough catches on the run.

Weaknesses: Must add some bulk to improve his short-yardage ability. Can be impatient at times and not allow holes to develop. Can get beat as a blocker, and must improve technique. As a receiver, must sharpen route-running skills and ability to get open against zone coverage.

Bottom line: Norwood's stock could skyrocket with good postseason workouts. He is Mississippi State's best player but faces a brutal SEC schedule. He is a solid mid-round pick who could make a dramatic move up draft boards.

Norwood will probably catch on as a special teams player/third down back somewhere. He's returned kicks and punts, but he's really too small to play RB on an every-down basis.

Victor Adeyanju

Height: 6-4

Weight: 265

40-yard dash: 4.58

-Strengths: Has good size, strength and athleticism. Shows good quickness off the edge. Has a quick first step, and shows strong pass-rush moves and a good closing burst. Can be a terror in the backfield. Has the speed to chase down plays from the backside, and makes plays in pursuit. Plays with good leverage against the run, and is an excellent tackler.

Weaknesses: Plays too high at times; must work at staying low and getting good leverage. Struggles at times to hold his ground at the point of attack. Must improve his inside pass-rush moves.

Bottom line: Adeyanju is a consistent and durable force. He is a tremendous athlete and competitor who has the potential to be a long-term NFL playmaker. With a great senior season, Adeyanju has become a solid third-round option. He could continue to shoot up draft boards with outstanding postseason workouts.

the small backs are usually the best backs.... look at tiki and emmitt... he could develop into something because of his break away speed..

why do we need another rb?

because we need more competition... look how we went into season with four backs and we played them from week in and week out...

A-train, Julius, Marion, and Tyson Thompson... I think he should be a back that we could consider...

He's not built like either of those guys. He's much thinner, especially in his legs. But he is pretty tough.

If another RB was drafted, I wouldn't be surprised.

I sure hope Norwood can play guard/center and Adeyanju
can play tackle/free safety <eyeroll>

I like the trio of Jones, Barber and Thompson. They should all be better and wiser next season.

I don't think Dallas will take a back in the draft. A guy I like as a 3rd down specialist is Taurean Henderson of Texas Tech. The Tech offense essentially plays 3rd down every down. He can catch and block.

Based on what exactly?

Here are the top 20 backs in the NFL right now.

Alexander 5-11 225
James 6-0 215
T. Barber 5-10 205
L. Johnson 6-1 230
Tomlinson 5-10 220
Dunn 5-9 180
R. Johnson 5-10 225
Portis 5-11 215
Droughns 5-11 215
T Jones 5-10 220
McGahee 6-0 220
Davis 5-9 220
Jackson 6-2 230
Caddy Williams 5-11 217
Jordan 5-10 230
Anderson 6-0 230
Parker 5-10 209
Ronnie Brown 6-0 230
Chris Brown 6-3 220
T. Bell 5-11 215

Of the top 20 backs, only Tiki Barber, Warrick Dunn and Willie Parker are what I would consider small.

I think that once Thompson learns the blocking schemes, the hot reads and the blitz pickups, he's going to get a lot more playing time. In fact, I would not be surprised to see him be the feature back in Dallas in a few seasons.

And of all of those I would only call Tiki a durable feature back. Parker is still very young. Dunn, he gets about 1/2 of his teams carried with the other running backs -- TJ Duckett and Michael Vick -- getting the other half.

WHY???... we've got 3 quality RBs all about the same size and speed... why add another joe to the mix we already have... If you want another runner, you're going to have to get one in the range of 225-230 lbs... we need a hammer with the other 3 guys... not another RB with the exact same characteristics as the 3 on the present roster. Furthermore, next year, the 3 RBs we have will be that much more experienced, with a pro off-season of conditioning. I wouldn't be surprised for Dallas to stand pat exactly where they are and get other positions in need... RB certaintly isn't one of those positions. That's just not going to happen Compacity. Post some OL men not RBs.

I think if we get another RB next year its also going to be a guy who can play FB as well.
Micheal Bush at 250 lbs is the kind of player I'm talking about, but you probably will have to spend a 2nd rounder to get him which is a straight out luxury at this point in time.
I hope for Fred Beasley or
or someone like Lawerence Vickers from Colorado from round 4 down.

Given BP's lack of interest in the FB position, I don't see any of this happening.

Three players I like are Manny Lawson, Elvis Dumervil and Darryl Tapp, DEs who could play OLB in a 3-4 scheme. Dumervil and Tapp both remind me of Dwight Freeney. Dumervil is about 6' and 265. He led the nation with 20 sacks. Tapp is 6-1, 265 and had 10. Manny Lawson is tall and rangy, 6-5 and 245. He had 9.5 sacks opposite Mario Williams.
