We hear from sources and mediots about players draft grades and what round they are projected go to in, some do, some don't. One thing is probably expected, that 1st - 3rd rounders should be starting by there second year. So my question is:

Cowboys had Leary as a 3rd rounder and he went undrafted. By their draft logic, do you think they expect him to start this year? If not, then is there a flaw in their rankings?

I now see they had Magee as a 4th round and Hamilton as a 5th round and both went undrafted.

I think Leary has a strong chance of starting. They thought he had a chance last year. According to them the guys they go after are guys with draftable grades that went undrafted. Magee more than Holloman is probably only going to fit certain schemes due to his size. Another LB they got Reed is in the same boat but he's a little bit larger than Magee.

if you go back and look at the 2010 board which was released you'll see the scouts were very solid.

the board is filled with hits upon hits and guys who were taken higher than our scouts rated them have started very slowly.

our 2010 draft was strong but seeing the full board it was always going to be.

we liked good players.

very hard to grade on players who haven't even suited up yet.

I think they believe that Leary has the ability to start; however, I don't know how many inexperienced players they will want on the OLine. Frederick will be a rookie starter. If Parnell starts, that would be 2 inexperienced guys out of 5.

You don't "expect" anyone to start. You bring in guys you think have the potential to play well, and make them beat out their competition on the roster. Leary will have a chance to compete for first-team reps, just as he did last year.

If he doesn't start, it doesn't mean the scouting is flawed -- it just means there's someone else on the roster who's better than him right now.

Good point. Of course if the Clabo rumors are true, maybe that would offset the inexpierence factor, if Frederick and Leary start.
