Players' only meeting

i wouldnt give a players meeting credit for one win, if the attitude and sense of urgency remains high for a long period of time... maybe you can point to it as a factor.

It certainly didn't hurt. The timing of it and the way they played makes me think maybe something good came out of that meeting.

I agree. These meeting can be bad if they turn into finger pointing shouting matches they can also help bring guys together. These meeting are not cure alls but they can help

How do you know, maybe that was the one thing that made the difference. I mean if you weren't there and weren't on the team, you really don't know, you're just making an assumption based on your own uninformed opinion.

They should, in my opinion, have a players' meeting once a week anyway.

We did when I played football, basketball, and baseball. Captains would lead the meetings and we'd discuss ideas, plays, team beefs, anything. We'd even come up with post-victory dinner locations beforehand - winning spirit.

was it the players only meeting or the fact that they actually held a legitimate practice?

Like Aikman said, you only have these meetings when you're losing. As much as I'd love to believe this team has the chemistry to get together each week and hash out grievences like we're on Rikki Lake, I know these are a bunch of grown men getting paid millions and at some point people would begin having a deaf ear. Plus a player's only meeting can only inspire until the first error and then the wheels fall off again.

Case and point, it's a quick fix, not a long term solution for this team to go anywhere if we want to think down the line.

I vote for less player only meetings, and more of this "we're putting the dominoes away" type practices throughout the week. When Newman and some of the others made their comments on what was going on the first few weeks I was just shaking my head, like no wonder they playing like garbage.
