I agree. Just saying he was given a lot of assignments that year that had him learn a lot on the fly. Guess I would give him last year as being his "rookie" year at safety.
This year though he needs to show something more at safety, athletically he is the guy you want. Football smarts aren't there, yet, hopefully.

Byron Jones needs to be a slot CB. He's pretty decent against slot receivers and TE's.

As a safety? YIKES! He's terrible.

Keep him as a slot corner and put Frazier and/or Woods back there.

Im not sold on Chaz Green just yet. The boys have had more success running to the right than to the left. Which was not the case last year.
I mentioned in another thread, pump the breaks on Butler. He needs to catch the easy PERFECTLY THROWN balls.
Jaylon is around the ball and making tackles. Given the injury he is still dealing with, shouldnt we be high on him?
T Will is far from garbage. He gets separation and catches passes with more consistency than Dez so far this year. He would be missed if cut.
I agree with your opinion on Crawford. He is being payed way too much IMO. I would say trade him, but does anyone want him?
Jones did good yesterday in man coverage against the TE and Fitz. I think, with his own deficiencies, he does not pair well with Heath. Heath is not a starter IMO.

I am not sold on Chaz either. But I have been his biggest critic so I only thought it fair to praise him when he shows up. Butler Is way better than Williams. But then again, Williams is a low bar so that isnt saying much. If you are a big fan of Williams so be it. I think he is a waste of money and a progress stopper for other guys better than him.

Some guys are really doing well and are showing promise. Others are disappointing or playing poorly as some thought. Last night was all about Dak and Lawrence

Players Im excited about or happy with:

-Lawrence (Looks all world)
-Dak
-Butler
-Malik Collins
-Jourdan Lewis
-Xavier Woods
-Chaz Green (Been really hard on him. Nice job, can he stay healthy?)

Guys I am down on after 3 games:
-Collins RT
-Zeke (Yah he is great, but not enough make em miss)
-Byron Jones (definitely no superstar in the making)
-Jaylon Smith (not 100% and playing poorly)

Guys I think are 100% garbage:

-Jeff Heath (Said it many times and I will say it again. Hes awefull)
-Williams WR (Would anyone notice or care if this guy was cut?)
-Crawford DE (Can we please cut the guy after this year?)

I do think Byron Jones may be miscast as a Free Safety, and with some grooming, Xavier Woods is looking like a better fit in that capacity. He will absolutely lay the wood, when needed, and yet has better than average coverage skills as a Free Safety. Alternatively, Byron Jones is more cover guy than intimidating presence. The problem with moving him now is the log jam at corner. Of course, if it meant saying goodbye to Carroll, I'd be all for it.

Jeff Heath is more in the box enforced than cover guy with better overall speed than Church. That said, great speed means nothing if you are running in the wrong direction. I do not like Heath in their on obvious passing plays and think they really should consider alternating Woods in his spot in obvious passing situations.

Crawford, I think, is in a contract year, so if his lackluster play continues, they won't have to cut him.

I don't really understand your issue with Williams. Granted, he didn't do much. But with that logic we should cut Beasley to, who has done a whole lot of nothing to date. Like Beasley said on Twitter, he can't catch passes not thrown to him. I also think you may underestimate the value of having a good team-player like Williams.

I got destroyed in preseason for pointing out that while Jaylon can run fast in a straight line, he seems very awkward when attempting to change directions at high speeds. Small adjustments, he can handle well, but when he has to stop and restart, he is generally too far behind the play to make a difference by the time he get's back to his top speed. I think it may be more of a mental issue than structural, but, obviously, there's no way I can know that for certain.

To be fair, La'el has likely had the biggest challenge thus far this season, considering who he has faced for maybe the exception of T. Smith's draw last night with Chandler Jones. Admittedly, he hasn't been great, but to be fair, given the talent he has faced, being great might be asking for alot. I honestly think the entire offensive line has been disappointing so when I point, I do so with all 5 fingers.

Williams has poor production, rarely gets open and there are better guys behind him. Offer little to no upside. 5th option in the passing game for us. I would even be more than happy to play the practice squad guy that had a first down catch in his place. Butler is a much better threat and play maker.

I would not say that I am a big fan of Williams. I just dont see enough consistency from Butler to think he would make a good WR2 at this time.

And Williams does what exactly? Butler plays much less and makes many more plays. Wouldnt it stand to reason that given all the snaps of Williams he would be even better? He takes the top off the defense, which is exactly what we need. Williams doenst provide that.

You are correct, Williams does not provide the speed that Butler provides. I would even go as far as to say that if Dez was as effective as 2014 Dez, I would support the change. Even if its only for a game or 2 to try it out and see how Butler and Williams respond. But, Dez is still not dominating the field the way he used too. Not consistently. So I tend to favor the consistency of Williams over the potential of Butler given the Dez situation. 13 target 9 catches no drops for T Will I believe.

Exactly; he does his job. He's not a burner and he's not running deep all of the time. But he does what's needed
