Players you don't want, but can't explain why...

I get the same feeling. Also, throw in Talib and Devin Thomas.

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about Thomas?

Felix Jones..Idk what I have against him, I just don't want him.

Like I said in another thread, I'd be very disappointed if we picked him in ANY round..haha

There are a bunch of guys that I don't want, but I don't think it's a gut feeling. It's because so many of them have character issues -- bad attitudes or brushes with the law.

There are players I don't want, but I can explain why so I guess I can't answer this question. :D

Rack, go ahead tell us.

Also tell us which running backs you like.

Yeah this is a really crappy year for drafting a WR. Worst WR class in awhile.

Well for a lot of the players I like them, but not for where they'd be expected to get picked.

A lot of people are all over Mendenhall's enormous biceps, but I don't think he'll be a great pro. I don't think he'll be BAD, but not nearly as good as some here believe.

IMO, the top 2 RBs in this draft are DMAC and Ray Rice.

I wouldn't be upset with a Mendenhall at 28 (I could live with him at 22, but I'll never expect "Greatness" out of him). I would be upset knowing we drafted a lesser RB sooner than we could have had a better RB.

Jonathan Stewart is garbage. Looks like tarzan, runs like Jane.

Felix Jones will never be a good #1 back. He will be a solid complimentary RB, but for a first round pick, I don't want a "Complimentary" RB.

Chris Johnson would be an afterthought here if he'd ran like a 4.4 at the combine. He'll be a solid complimentary RB and a good return man, but never a good #1 RB. Ever. And you watch, he'll have one or two good games and people will bump this up as if that means he's the next Barry Sanders. I'm not saying he'll never have a great game, I'm saying he'll never be a great #1 RB. Julius Jones had some great games too, where's he at now?

I'm a bit intrigued with Matt Forte. Don't think he'll be a great #1, but he'd be great value as a complimentary RB to Barber from where we could end up drafting him.

Probably one of the players I like best (and know we won't get) is Chris Long. I'd love to have him as our SOLB (if Ellis can play SOLB, then Chris Long can be a hall of famer as a SOLB). If by some miracle he dropped to #22 I'd be wanting to beat JJ down for drafting Spencer last year, cuz Spencer would be the reason we won't take Chris Long (he won't drop that far anyway).

We have to get a CB or two out of this draft cuz there's some good ones this year.

I have the cowboys in a mock draft on another board and I have taken (in order) DRC, Cason, Matt Forte (Rice was taken like 2 picks before), and Owen Schmidt. Probably didn't have to take Forte there, but I was pissed that Rice had just been taken and didn't really think it through. I still wouldn't mind that first three rounds though.

That's good stuff Rack. I may like CJ a little more than you, but I think your assessment is pretty much the same as mine.

What do you think of Earl Bennett?

The only player I can't put a definite finger on is Gosder Cherilus. I just don't think he will make it in the pro's, even moving back to his natural RT position.

However, I'll do my best to answer your question.

1) WR is one of the toughest positions to transition from College to the NFL. So, if you're going to take a WR in the 1st rd he should be more than a 1 year wonder.

2) He didn't run out of a pro-style set. So, he's going to have learn this and how to make the proper adjustments on the fly. This is a skill that sets many college WRs back when they enter the pros.

3) I respect Drew Boylhart's (thehuddlereport.com) opinions:
"What I try to do is give you an honest opinion of a player’s abilities to play in the NFL without acknowledging what others are saying about a player. I don’t cut and paste from other peoples profiles or listen to what other people say about a player. I just tell you what I honestly see on the film. For example, Devin Thomas WR Michigan St. On my film I have never seen the speed that he showed in the Combine. I think he has excellent talent but he has not and does not run all the routes needed to be a complete WR for the next level. That means to me that although he has very good talent his LTI (Length To Impact) is longer then most WR’s that I would list in the first round of the draft. I gave him a 4th round TBR rating because that’s what I see. I don’t change that rating because he ran a 4.30sp forty at the combine. If a team drafts him in the first round they know that Devin will take some time before he will become consistent and productive. The pressure could ruin Devin but I suspect that most teams feel that he can handle that pressure. I’m not sure he can but they are suppose to be the experts not me!" That certainly hasn't stopped people from explaining why they don't want people...i.e. "Ray Rice would make our offense the slowest in the NFL"...but thanks for making the effort anyway. :)

aqib talib=Deangelo Hall version 2.0

You two have no clue. Ray Rice is the most complete RB in the entire draft (including DMac).

Drew Boylhart (thehuddlereport.com):
"IMO Ray is the second best RB in this draft. He reminds me of Curtis Martin RB formerly of the Jets. Because of Ray’s size he is being over looked but the truth is that Ray is a powerful built back with excellent football intelligence and can play in any offensive system. Ray is a franchise RB and is a patient runner who understands how to set up his blocks and can cut and burst on a dime. He is the real deal and to suggest because of his size that he is limited is being just as short sited as those scouts and GM’s who said the same thing about Curtis Martin when he was drafted as the 10th pick in the third round of the 1995 draft by the New England Patriots." Sorry if my response came off as "sounding" condescending. I think an edit is required.

Not at all, I was just overly curious because you're one of the few that can see the genius in Ray Rice's running. ;) I wanted to see what you had on a different player that intrigued me, but I don't know much about.
